KavitaB 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2006 Hello All, I am using CDMA Nokia 6235 and Nokia 3125 model for connecting to Internet in Linux. I am using Reliance 40 hrs peak and non-peak plan. Every time I connect to Net IP address allocated to my connection gets reallocated very frequently if you are not using it. It also gets reallocated even if you are accessing Net. Did anyone observed this? Does any one know the purpose behind this? Why Reliance is reallocating IP ddressses very frequently? Regards, Kavita
Ashokjp 15 Report post Posted May 3, 2006 Thats wat is the concept of dynamic ip address. everytime u make a connection, your ip changes. This is the general scenario in all types of access to internet. Well still in broaband segment and other stuff providers give a option of static ip adress as a paid addon. where your ip remains constant and unique to you as long as you pay for it. Static ip is mainly needed only when you are running any kind of servers in your system. Reliance doesnt give static ip facility over mobile internet facility. Well no providers as of now give static ip over mobile internet.

linuxguy 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2006 KavitaB, it might be that the DHCP lease on your IP is expiring too frequently. Firstly make sure that the settings are correct on your comp. Then call up reliance and tell them about this problem.
