scuzzy 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Hi There I have a lg rd2030 and an original Reliance USB Cable Ever since i heard i could hack the phone with USB Cable I have been trying like hell to access the filesystem . But i still dont seem to get it right How about a step by step guide for USB users on how to Hack the 2030 including what should be the bitpim settings and everything the bitpim HELP said i will need libusb-win32 driver for usb cables so i downloaded it but still didnt work . Can anyone tell me if the driver is necessary . If not then which COM port to choose in the settings . The program shows COM 1 and COM 2 in the settings but both dont work when i try to open the filesystem I also have no idea which phone model to select in the menu . Someone who has already hacked with a USB cable please help I am sure most of the 2030 users use USB and many must be facing this problem. Thanks in advance
Ashokjp 15 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 If you are having a USB Cable, you need to have USB > Serial converter driver.. After installing it, a new COM port will be added to the list other than the current ones.. In Bitpim, you have to select the COM port which is installed by the driver..
scuzzy 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Can you give me a link to where i can find the driver if the driver you are talking about is the libusb-win32 driver then I have already tried it but it doesnt seem to work.
scuzzy 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 Come on Guys there are so many entries here by people using USB cables for help but not one satisfactory reply every reply says rd 2030 + USB works but nobody says how somebody please help
Ashokjp 15 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 You just have to install the USB - > Serial converter driver which i think is available for download with Reliance Then a new COM port will appear, which transmits data to your USB pretending as a COM port.. In Bitpim, Select Edit > Settings In that select the Com port which was installed by the driver Tats it.. Now follow the steps in the tutorial by ngcoders RD-2030 Ringtone Tutorial User "Chandramauli" was able to do this way.. Maybe anyone having USB, can say anything more.. Ashokjp 15 Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I think the software comes with the R-Connect CD.. I am having serial cable.. So cant say much on USB. Try getting the latest driver here LG RD 2030 Interface : USB Uninstall the old and install this.. See whether it works this way
amtrag 20 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Hi ThereI have a lg rd2030 and an original Reliance USB Cable Ever since i heard i could hack the phone with USB Cable I have been trying like hell to access the filesystem . But i still dont seem to get it right............ Hi Scuzzy, Maybe I could help you. I installed R-connect software in windows XP. Then I installed Bitpim ver 6 (NOT the latest version 7). You need not install any other drivers etc if your rconnect is working fine. It already has a usb-serial converter (or whatever...does'nt matter to me as long as it works fine). So, in short, if your rconnect is working in win XP, then you just need to install bitpim ver 6.x and you should be able to access lg rd 2030file system...and do all those things mentioned in this forum. and mind all of you guys, i'm not at all a techie...I just use common sense! hope it helps you Scuzzy, all the best! rgulx2 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2004 hi, I have a Windows XP with LG RD2030 mobile. I have recently bought a cord to connect the reliance cell and make use of the Rconnect service. However Windows is not recognising my CELL and enabling it as a modem even after I ahve installed the LG USB drivers and RIM related software on the machine. Please help Regards, Rohit

rgulx2 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Junta, Thanks for the very enthu reply to my query, but we seem to have got lost from my original question: 1) I am using Windows XP on a Vaio laptop 2) The data cable and phone modem is not getting recognised even after I installed the LG RD 2030 drives on the the laptop 3) I checked the laptop and it does not have any serial ports (has a LPT though) 4) I did a scan for new hardware and no serial ports are identified 5) I downloaded BitPim and tried to make it work, it gives the same message that serial ports are not found. Please advise how to make the cell work on USB. I am trying to RConnect. Regards, Rohit
Ashokjp 15 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 Wat i meant was the same.. Once you install the drivers a new port will be displayed as COM port which is actually transfering data through ur usb.. One the drivers are properly installed, it com port will come in Bitpim also. Did u try the new drivers? Isnt it working the latest ones too
rgulx2 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2004 hi, I updated the machine with the new USB driver provided from RIM. However the only additional step that I got was for activating RConnect i.e. by calling *412 but the problem is that my LG RD2030 is still not being recognised by the laptop and I am getting a message of unkown USB device. Any suggestions? PS: Can I get RConnect disabled till this thing is resolveD? Dont want Dhiru ka sapna to make my money uska apna! Is the RConnect enabling adding some monthly fee? Regards, Rohit
