Bitpim Sync Errors

Recommended Posts

I am not sure about, to how extend it would go,

as i have not yet faced such a situation ;) but here are some:

You might loose your

SMS,

phone book and scheduler etc..

Damages may be serious at times ;)

Bored, see whether everything works fine... :D

well, BORED, just to make sure u have not deleted any system files, try re-booting the phone...

if it re-boots fine then the damage is not critical.

WARNING if u have deleted some critical file be prepared for the phone not booting up ...and u may have to go to RWW or LG service center to re-flash/rectify the problem...

Thanks Static..

There was no problem.. The phone did reboot and uploaded ringtones again and again..

I want to ask u what will happen if the uploading is somehow abruptly interferred, like the electricity black out. or as in mycase pulling out the USB cable..

Would this cause damage to the phone?

well, i would highly suggest you NOT to jerk out the cable from the phone end or from the PC end... cauz it really may cauz more damage than u can imagine...

as a small list i might like to include..

blown up com-port.

blown up phone pcb

blown up phone's connection port

in rather strange circumstances i have even the motherboard being rendered useless.. (infact it happened to me :P when i pulled out a usb printer...)

well, smaller probs include...

damage to file system of the phone

damage to datacord

physical damage to phone port

etc etc..

also at times there might be none... !!??

but dont try it as long as u can

wont it be a good practise to make a backup of some items before you start working on it. i have backed up my phone book on lg desktop and also i saved the phonebook using bitpim.

can anyone suggest which all files should be backed up

even if some critical files are deleted and if we upload the backup before re-booting would the phone work normally?

Too back up the entire structure

You just have to Right-Click "/" and click Backup entire tree

And give a location and filename when the process is completed :D

if you don't re-boot then you surely can...

but if u do...

then u'll have to get the phone re-flashed if it dosen't work(boot)...

but if it doesnt boot will it be impossible for bitpim to detect the phone I mean like if we accidently reboot is it impossible to restore backup.

the purpose of backup is so that we we accidently delete something that we shouldnt then we can restore it. most often than not, we would know if we delete something accidently.

it would be a good idea for everyone to make a backup before doing something with the phone. just a precaution.

well, if the phone dosen't boot up ... BitPim will not detect the phone and you cannot restore backups.

so if u accidentialy delete some files, w/o rebooting the phone, restore a previous backup and then reboot.

Hi maniktushar,

although i'm not a techie, but since backup is a read-only operation, the error should not be a serious one. but i'm not sure.

By the way, why do you want to reboot your phone, you can charge your battery without rebooting...

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I uninstalled ver 0.7 of BitPIM and installed the old and good 0.62 and believe me the process ran as smooth as butter. Well anyways have any of u'll got the same errors or somethin similar if yes then maybe this is a bug in .7 coz I tried this same proess of bakin up about 2-3 times on .7 only and yet it didnt work and then on .62 it worked pretty well.

Exactly, i was also facing problems with ver 7. Then i downgraded to .62 and it always runs smoothly.

Since ver .7 is a beta ver, so there might be some new bugs that are'nt there in .62

I had advised Scuzzy to use ver .62 a few days ago.

It's always a good idea to take your phone offline before performaing operations that take long time (like full backup).

These random frame corruption errors occor because of timing errors. remember your phone is multitasking in background.. communicating with cell site. Some of these operations can throw communication of of sync and hence those errors...

How do I put my phone offline if what you are sayin is dont keep your phone busy while syncing then that was what it was like I wasnt talkin while syncing and if what u mean is disconnect from the reliance network then how the hell am I supposed to do that B) And how come it backed up perfectly with bitpim .6 without changing anythin. Yes but if someone else experiences the sam e probs with .7 then it may be a sw bug isnt it possible.
