Bobby 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2004 StaticElectricity said: if you don't re-boot then you surely can...but if u do... then u'll have to get the phone re-flashed if it dosen't work(boot)... I don't think reboot will create a problem. The ROM will still boot the phone. I mean if the ROM is programmed such that even default ringtones are stored in it, the boot system definitely would be stored in the ROM. The phone will still boot and be active though if the system files are lost the phone might not function and hence u might not be able to receive or make calls or the menu options might be lost (data or whatever). So....u can upload the root backup created using BitPim.... Just a wild guess.....

Just a wild guess..... guess... what i had stated was hard fact... the phone does not boot up if u remove some files... if you dont believe me then try deleting the $SYS and LG.CFG files and then boot up the phone.. see if it boots up... and be 100% ready to rush to the RWW/LG centre to get you'r phone re-flashed. and be sure to carry out this experiment and then post you'r results here and see wheather they match my results.. You dont wanna try that bobby, Cause you can only reload the backup if the phone boots, But after those files are gone, the phone refuses to boot. Will give logo and reboot. I learnt the hard way. Code 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2004 I am using bitpm 0.62 with RD 7120 and I see that the mhlsnd1 is different from the file name as specified in the header file and in th phone menu ( it will be actually third rather than first ) . Also I am having difficulty replacing the second ringtone - Can't play it - same file in first or third postion does fine - I think it has something to do with the way bitpm lists files - or is it RIM

MasterMind 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 Hi All, Something I forgot to mention before. I am able to use bitPIM to access the filesystem. But, just the file system... nothing else seems to work in bitPIM for me... Also... PCSync software frm LG downloaded from reliance site is able to connect. when I click on sync button.... it connects to the phone and returns message that the phone is locked... So, What could probably be the problem? I am using uniCDMA which is not installed in the system. I got 2 files in a zip file. Which I unzipped and am trying to use.... I hope we do not have to install uniCDMA... should I? -Uday
