ani_meher 42 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) Did u read this??? Tata Teleservices Limited is launching 60X365 Offer exclusively on Wideo. Under this offer, a subscriber who purchases a Wideo will enjoy 60 minutes of local / STD calls free every day for a period of one year to any network. Does anyone know about this offer? The phone is quoting at 22,000 Even if Reliance do launch such handset, I am not sure I'd invest so much in a handset with no extendable memory and no bluetooth/ir. schumi 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 It looks to be an interesting phone but I dont think it has better features than the NOKIA 6265 handset.Just it has a large screen and I dont think anything extra. Also the cost Rs 22000 ! Which is too much for a CDMA handset. And I dont think Reliance will launch this handset.

There was a time when ppl were talking abt launch of 6600 in RIM! ya right. And while we r at it, my reliable source tells me there is a simple chip coming in RIM that can be used on any GSM phone like simcard Well, a simple chip (sim) is being used by Reliance and is given to International roaming subscribers, which can be used with any GSM handset to roam with GSM partners across the world. RIM calls are forwarded on this SIM which comes with a number from Reliance GSM. I don't believe it is feasible to make a SIM card which can make a GSM handset CDMA compatible, that too without any hardware support (read CDMA chipset). Either your reliable sources are confusing it with the International Roaming SIM or they are imagining of a future technology which could probably be seen in the next 10-15 years....may be later.... or may be never... ashoksoft 83 Report post Posted May 31, 2006 Or a more probable scenario ... they must have seen the RUIM card in a GSM handset (getting into the IR "R" mode)... if u have a RUIM try it ... the mobile defaults into the international "Roaming" - Emergency mode Could be someone trying to play smart! cheers a s h o k
kshah 452 Report post Posted May 31, 2006 (edited) crazy price, no feature. Just a basic phone and so much??????????????????????? Reliance offers SIM for international roaming on GSM network. Since I was out of country last week, I bought SIM from them paying 2000 deposit for ISD and 4000 for roaming. This SIM is GSM SIM so can not be used in CDMA. They said if I have RUIM phone, then RUIM can be used in GSM phone, but not vice versa. I am trying to get hold of RUIM handset to see if it supports SIM given to me. in SIM number does not change it remains your existing number only. THis is for information of all members as it may clears doubts of many RIM users. I will create another post for my pleasent experience on RIM International roaming.
