abhay 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Now, track Speed Post on the cellThe growing adoption of technology by consumers and competition from courier companies seem to be pushing the department of post (DoP) into devising innovative services for its customers. In the latest effort to retain and further its market share, the department has tied up with Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communications to offer a facility for tracking the status of their Speed Post parcels through mobile phones. All a subscriber needs to do is to access the R-World service, click on India Post, select Speed Post, enter the consignment number in the input box and submit. The status of the consignment including date, time, place, event and remarks would be displayed on the handset screen immediately. The service, which is currently available only on phones that offer the R-World service and would subsequently be rolled out with SMS interactivity from any Reliance phone, will cost Rs 3 per query. Given their dependence on Speed Post, small and medium enterprises particularly will benefit, Mahesh Prasad, president - applications solutions and content group, Reliance Communications, told DNA Money. http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1031089&CatID=
