Comparing For Internet Usage - Reliance Vs Tata Indicom Cdma

Recommended Posts

I live just outside Bhubaneswar, Orissa, with both Reliance and Tata signal towers nearby. I have been using RIM prepaid for internet (which is my main concern).

Now that Tata has the wonderful-sounding Indicom 10 plan for postpaid Indicom wireless phone (internet for 40 p/min during daytime with 10-6 night free for Rs 350 pm which includes Rs 200 worth of talk+SMS+internet), I am considering shifting.

Currently, I am happy with Reliance with its decent network speed, the lack of congestion or signal dropouts here, and customer service.

How does Tata fare in these aspects?

Thanks a lot!

(Not sure if the Indicom phone is available in Bhubaneswar)

** UPDATE **

July 1, 2006 - The plan is indeed available in Bhubaneswar and I have enrolled in it. The customer service appears to be as good as Reliance's. Internet speeds are 70-120% of what I had with Reliance (depending on the time of day). The signal tower is a km away.

Tata Indicom consumer/user group on Google - groups.google.co.in/group/Tata-Indicom-tleservice-users - This discussion group has been started on the internet to cater to the needs of consumers of Tata Indicom's teleservices (such as mobile telephony and broadband internet). It should also help those who are interested in the type and quality of services provided by the company, and are looking for reviews and feedbacks.

The plan definitely sounds great, but it's a known fact that Tata Indicom internet speeds are not as good as Reliance. So if its the speed, tata indicom may disappoint you. On the other fronts, it should be more or less similar to Reliance.

I feel tata offers better speeds compared to reliance to less subscribers.
