mywebid 21 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 I went to LG ASC to upgrade my LG 6130 for first time since I had bought it a year ago because R-World was no longer working on it for last 5 months. I was surprized to see that they have started charging for service (if outside warranty) and also with no guarantee. They charge Rs. 85 for upgrade and warned me that if anything goes wrong I would have to pay Rs. 1600 as the main board would need to be changed !!! They absolutly denied to take any reponsibility if anything goes wrong while upgrading even due to their mistake. This is very BAD. Software upgrades should be free. If error on part of Reliance not adding compatibiltiy of new R-World to the all phones with original softwares. Why should user pay for it? I want to confirm that is this true for all LG centres or this service centres guys fooled me ? By the way I went to the LG service centre at Sector - 18 of NOIDA. raccoon 53 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 If true, this is preposterous! I'd suggest you at least dash off an email to LG support head office or something, to confirm and protest. When I was last at the LG service centre here, they had put up the email and phone number on the not notice board. I can't find it now. You could try to get it on their portal. supernova 47 Report post Posted June 30, 2006 If anything goes wrong while upgrading regardless of fact that its in warrany or not then you are not liable . its their mistake . earlier lg service centre at our place also was saying what u wrote but then i went and talked to lg and relaince mamager n cleared this. these lg service centre people take safe side but thats unethical , illegal and against lg - reliance policy. KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 As far as I know, there is no charges for software upgrades by LG SCs. If your SC is demanding such charges please complain to CMO and also to helpline@lgmobiles.com. Nowadays, LG is responding faster. I have personally seen a poster in a LGSC stating no charges for SW upgrades for any models at all whether in warranty or out of warranty. Did you pick up any fight with these people at any time for them to do this to you????
mywebid 21 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Mailed to the LG mobile helpline. Let's see what reply I get.
mywebid 21 Report post Posted July 6, 2006 Got reply from LG helpline, and guess what they say that its right that the service centre is charging for software upgrade. It chargeble I think I would not go for upgrade now.
raccoon 53 Report post Posted July 6, 2006 Perfect! Any sane customer would blacklist LG phones now! And thats pretty much like blacklisting RIM as there isn't much to choose from anyway.
KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted July 7, 2006 So, LG also has tied up finally with Reliance and has started withdrawing facilities one-by-one. So they also want to increase their ARPU now.

It chargeble I think I would not go for upgrade now. ya its true that software upgrade is chargeble for non-warranty sets . but as i earlier wrote n what u r afraid of getting software upgrade is : "If anything goes wrong while upgrading regardless of fact that its in warrany or not then you would have to pay 1650 or not ? " i still say u r not liable for bad errors of computer while software upgradation . lg asc will change mothernoard/pcb free of cost . only u have to pay 78-85 software charges . mywebid 21 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 But I again asked LG service centre and they clearly warned me that I have to bear the charges if anything goes wrong !! I am ready to pay Rs. 80 ( ), but can't can't risk for Rs. 1600. This is ridiculous. Very bas on LG part.
raccoon 53 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 Well, let them say they are not responsible if anything goes wrong ...and we can say we are not responsible if we dont buy any more LG phones/products. LG hasn't even established itself as a serious player in the mobile segment. Surprising that they should come up with such rip-off ideas!
