saisubha 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2006 (edited) Dear friends, good morning. I had a Samsung N 191 which served my nicely for 3 years. Now it is dead (almost. It works some times only at my home. so I can not call it mobile any more!) Now I want to switch to another handset. Can you recommend /suggest the following info. (I think this will be useful for other users as well) Make : Model No: Supports Rconnect : Yes or No Colour : Yes or No battery life : Approx Cost:(V imp factor) Other Features : Camera/FM/MP3 etc., Your experience voice : good /average/poor data : good /average/many breaks any other relavant info.., (edit these parameters as applicable). I request many to reply since the idea about your h/s may be very trivial to you. but for us ( we started journey with RIM three year , but did not follow it up). There are so many handsets somany features and Webword guys will give some info which may be true or not. But I expect info from other users to be more reliable. I searched this forum but did not find any info( independent of brand. I got some info under diff brands like LG/NOkia etc., but that is not complete. I strongly feel this info under the folder :Rconnect will be more useful. thanks for sparing your time rgds prasad Edited July 20, 2006 by saisubha

saisubha 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2006 Hi friends, Once again may I request you to provide info about Rconnect enabled handsets. of anymake. whether it is without camera b/w,coloour it does not matter. please mention the est.price (if known) and colour/bw and experience with it. I am asking this because the info on relianceinfo.com in handsets section is not complete. for many sets they just do not mention Rconnect. Does it mean it does not support it? what is the min cost one has to pay for b/w rconnect enabled set? similarly what is the min price one has to pay for a colour set? in this regards your info will be useful for all of us. (ps. if your handset info is already mentioned by some one , you may skip giving reply) ( no need for duplicate entries) with best regards prasad

saisubha 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 (edited) Pls search for Handset tracker posted my me and pinned by Moderator. The EXCELlent document will help you to decide on handset. Thanks for the reply Utsav. This document contains as you rightly said lot of (updated) information. But unfortunately it does not talk about Rconnect or as they call it Reliance-Netconnect. Anyhow now I had dropped the idea and went for LG 2690 with a new no and Offer. Now I had a different question. can I use it for Rconnect? It supports LG-USBC 1000. But I think this is only for connecting and sync with PC(for downloading tel.data like phone numbers etc.,) I do not know whether it will work or not as a modem (esp 2690) If I try I will let you know. ****added by prasad*** After acquiring little more gyan now I understand that we have 2 different speeds of connectivity {A}connecting with your pc and communicating data between ur pc-phone (but not on air) this you can use on all LG phones whether they are RLite Matrix (low end) or Java Matrix(high end) type . here again you can 2 types of connectors either serial port or USB port. That is what their site and "handset experience" link on rel.info (see specifications/accessories) is telling. they 2 different connectors. {B} connecting with remote computer network using your phone as a modem which requires high speed connectivity(netconnect) which only few models do offer. On the low end models the starting model is Nokia 2112 with data connectivity. that is why a b/w 2112 costs ~Rs 3200 where as in GSM you get a Nokia 1600 colour mobile for ~Rs2800(no modem). R-world story is different. depending upon the model or group(java/brew/rlite) you can use all /few Rworld applications.. That is what the handset tracker.xls file was trying to explain. Now our Rconnect compatible handset question is still incomplete and unanswered **********adding ended*********** regards prasad_Ind Edited July 25, 2006 by saisubha
