Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to connect my laptop to internet using 6265 as bluetooth modem by following steps

1.Switch on the bluetooth on your Nokia 6265 handset.

2.Make your handset in discoverable mode.

3.Insert the Bluetooth dongle in your Laptop and start the Bluetooth software that you have installed.

3.Then there must be a option of Device discovery or Searh for device in your Bluetooth software.

4.After the search has been completed it should show your handset in the search list.

5.Then right click on your handset name on your laptop and click on Pair device.

6.It will ask for a code, just enter any code and enter the same in your handset when it ask for it.

7.Now your handset should be connected to your laptop.

It gets connected to laptop now, after selecting bluetooth modem under network options it asks access point there i leave it blank and then for ISP there i give reliance and for username and password i give my rim no but connection is rejected. can some one tell the right steps of procedure for this.I am using bluesoleil by ivt corporation bluetooth dongle

I have already posted the steps on Page 4,post number 48 under this topic only.Anyways I am listing the steps again :

1.Activate R-Connect on your number(It should be already activated).

2.Connect the handset and the laptop via Bluetooth.

3.Goto Control Panel>Printer and Other hardware>Phone n Modem options>Click on Modem tab>Click on the Bluetooth modem(Bluetooth DUN modem mostly)>Click on Properties>Advanced>In Extra Commands type at+crm=1;+cso=33.

4.Click on the Bluetooth Dial up Networking service which will be there in your Bluetooth software.Enter your username and password(Your mobile number without 0) and the Dialling number #777.

Guys,

I have read about N6265 features and its comparision with many other devices.

One thing have noticed that N6265 has good advanced features but it somehow has problems with besic features.

1. SMS storage problem. Many ppl are complaining that only 60 to 70 sms can be stored on it.

2. Address Book. Same with address book. Only 250 addresses can be stored.

3. Battery gets drained faster.

I wish to get this baby in my hand but still in delimma coz of the confusion created around due to basic features.

Hence I request that Please post an exact review of basic features mentioning sms capacity, address book size, battery talktime and other features too...

Thanks,

Monji.

I had read on the nokia website featuring this particular phone that the phonebook can store 500 entries. Am surprised to read here that only 250 can be stored. Am still thinking whether to buy or not to buy now.

Have pasted the contents of that page here for ur reference...or you can visit...

http://www.nokia.co.in/nokia/0,,87156,00.html

Call Management

Large contact storage: 500 phonebook entries

Enhanced Voice Dialing

Integrated handsfree speaker

WRT battery...i guess it might have something to do with network. It was same with many phone. May improve with time...

Request guys to see whats there and whats not available on the phone...

Thanks

I have already stored 383 contacts in the address book and my memory status of the phone still shows 25% free that means the storage capacity is 500

My 6265's baterry lasts me only for half a day. Somebody has a solution for this

I had read on the nokia website featuring this particular phone that the phonebook can store 500 entries. Am surprised to read here that only 250 can be stored. Am still thinking whether to buy or not to buy now.

Well there is a difference in understanding. You can store 500 names in the Nokia 6265 handset and 250 names in the UIM card.So total you can store 500 + 250 =750.

@Schaumi

Are you sure that we can store upto 750 entries in address book?? Am talking about fully qualified entried. It means if i store two number for same name it shall not reduce the entry for me.

One more thing to ask is for SMS numbers. How many sms can be stored in device?? Is it possible to store sms on Memory Card?? Plz try to figure out max number of sms...

As far as battery is concerned its ok. If this device gives real nice features then battery can be replaced in front of features.

Thanks

Yes the 6265 can store totally 750 contacts

Hi

Can someone tell me how to transfer address book from LG 2030 to the new nokia 6265? I asked reliance and they said you cannot do that as one is an LG And the other a NOKIA. Has any one been able to do that thru r world or some other way? Please let know.

Take your LG handset to LG service centre and get the .csv format file of your contacts

import the file to outlook and then use sync in pcsuite to transfer the contacts to your 6265

Guys Please verify upon the number of SMS that can be stored in 6265.

Thanks.

Dear,

The SMS storage count on the super hyped 6265 is a measly 60 to 70 on the handset and 10 on the RUIM. Just imagine spending 17 grand and then not having enough memory for SMSs. Nokia and Reliance have joined hands together to F**K up this fone. As KOK has suggested earlier in this post, delete the templates and maybe the count will go upto 130???? I have deleted all the templates now and the Inbox is still not yet filled up though my SMS count is about 80 now. Will post on the exact count as and when my Inbox reports full.

However, this 6265 is not SMS friendly as say a LGRD 6230. That was really good. Believe me. Maybe the new series of LMS LG mobiles all have the same easy user interface for SMS. And 6265 does not have LMS also.(only sending atleast as Reliance does not offer more than 160 character SMSs at all.)

Hope you are satisfied.

@schumi,

1. My RUIM has only 150 names capacity, how come yours has 250 names. Are you sure? If yes, then what should I do to get 100 more names capacity? what is the SMS count on the RUIM if your names storage capacity is 250? Is it 20 or more?

2. *3001#12345# will help those who want to change the network name from"Reliance" to any other of their choice. But the downside is that the Sleep light (blue blinking one) will not work.

3. And yes, the roaming triangle did not work when I was roaming outside my home circle today. And also the call duration timers showed only home calls timers and the roaming duration timers shows only 00.00.00 always in both received and dialled calls.

I shall report and post here all that I experience as and when it happens.

Thanks to all.

I had changed the network name very first day i got the handset. But my sleep light is working correctly

I have already planned to buy N6265. Am gonna get it on this saturday. But truely speaking still confused due to SMS thing. I need atleast 120 SMS to be stored in my handset and with SMS Groups. If this service is not possible in N6265 then rather i will go for LG 6230. Let's see what comes up.

I did this just to see how many I could store. I did not delete any of the messages that came neither did I delete any of the delivery reports. and I forwarded all the jokes to all my friends. There were 2 messages in my archives and 1 in another folder. I was able to store a total of 130 messages when it started saying... No more space for new messages. I am not sure if presence of templates would affect but I have deleted them anyhow.

1. Which Color to buy? (Silver, Black or Silver-Black)

You dont have a choice. I dont think black is available, so you wil have to have silver only. The grey silver looks good at least to me.

2. How much extra memory to buy? (512MB or 1GB - Is 1GB working smoothly?)

I have just bought 1 GB card. cant tell you right now. but others have used 1 GB and are OK with it.

3. Is RUIM card coming with N6265 default package?

If not then how can i get it?

It is given along with the phone.

4. Any settings which can improve the performance and other utilities about the baby.

You will know as and when you use this phone as to what suits you.

5. Any other tips u wud like to give.

You are buying this phone on your own responsibilty. All that has been mentioned here on the forum is the individual experience and opinion of members. So take your time, get a first hand experience of this phone if possible, from a friend and then go for it.

ImTOO 3GP Video Converter is also good (Search google for the exe or tell me if ya cant find it, i will upload it somewhere and post that) (pm me if ya want the full version...but i guess the uncracked version worked fine too....dont remember that well though!)

Try this free software too http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

This may seem outdated but I am having problems converting from MP4V to 3gp using both MagicBit 3gp Converter and Media Coder. While Media Coder Converts to 3 gp file and I can play it on my desktop using Media Player from Nokia Suite, the media player on my Nokia 6265 is unable to open it and an error occurs. The MagicBit after registering with Key generated by KeyGen, appears to convert but the encoded file is always only 1.39 KB big! I can't figure out what's happening.

I am trying to download video podcasts through Itunes and then play them on 6265 after conversion.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

I am not able to change the service provider s address in settings by pressing *3001#12345#. It shows a blank when I press Serrvice Provider s Name

After entering the menu go to NAM1, select alpha tag and change it there

And the option in media player to fast forward or rewind does not work even after setting the interval time. If somebody has done it please let us know which button has been used to FF & RR

I have found out how to Rewind and Forward Songs in the Media Player.Steps are mentioned below :

1.Menu>Media>Media Player>FF/Rew Interval>Set the number of seconds you want.

2.Goto Music Player, play the song you want and if you want to rewind then press the << key for 3-4 secs and it will rewind to the number of secs you have set.

3.Goto Music Player, play the song you want and if you want to forward then press >> key for 3-4 secs and it will forward to the number of secs you have set.

I dont think anyone has posted this earlier and if someone has then I am sorry to post it again.

I did the settings as above but the video's are not rewinding or forwarding. which keys are u using for >> or <<

Well I have used the Nokia 6265 handset for more than 2 weeks now and luckily as yet I have not yet faced any problems.I would advice my friends not to change any settings under the service menu of the handset, they may cause problems.I can only suggest you to try and delete all files from your handset maybe that might resolve your problem. There maybe some software, game or application that you may have downloaded which might have caused this.In future also download all files on the memory card and try to keep the phone memory empty.I donot know what the exact problem is and what is the reason for it but try following the above mentioned suggesstions and hopefully it may solve the problem.

Can u pls tell me how to surf on the handset? and what are the wesites that can be surfed? can yahoo and hotmail be surfed? Sorry..am a newbie...and so these questions follow.

Thanx

Well I think you have not searched the forum for your answers. All the answers are mentioned in the forum. You can download the Opera Mini software and access almost all websites.Like Rediff,Yahoo. You can also surf with the inbulit Mini browser but the experience is better in the Opera Mini browser.

ive been reading a lot of details in here regarding storage of sms & contacts, but somehow nuthin makes any sense,

Nokia phones basically have 3 places where data can b stored,

1 RUIM card (sim card)

2 Phone memory 6265 (24MB)

3 MINI Sd card ( memory card default 64 MB)

when it comes to your sms in setting you have a choice of choosing RUIM or Phone memory

if phone memory is choosen u can keep recving sms's till your phone memory is full

( you also can choosen UIM, phone if no memory which means if UIm card full then to save in phone memory)

contacts again have a choice of RUIM or Phone, if phone is choosen it should take 500 enteries + 250 of the UIM (RUIM card)

here again you have a choice of choosin phone or UIM or phone & UIM

So guys try using this and see if what i said and your expectations are met

Chow

Keep callin......

I am posting this information on more than one topic because I was under myth that RUIM phones need PRL upgrade for International roaming.

After discussing with Reliance CC executive, technical guys and other CDMA experts, it is said that RUIM Phone does not require any PRL upgrades. It works just like GSM. RUIM upgrade itself when registered in foreign networks.

since there is no group smsing & distribution list feature, how can we send a sms to 10 or more people at a time?i usually I send 1sms to 20-30 persons thru distribution list.if there is no distribution list does this mean that i have to enter d 20 noS manually each time?or there is some other way to send it?

There is a option of group messaging and also send to many with which you can send a message to 10 numbers at a time.
