Is The Lg6130 Software Upgrade Chargeable!

Recommended Posts

:lol: why do I need to pay to upgrade my software on lg6130 as the the r world does not work fully due to changes by reliance. This happened to my earlier as I had been given a samsung phone under dapo offer. All of a sudden my phone went completely dead while using it, and did not come on again.I had been told by reliance that the phone will need to be replaced with a current model: that is shocking. Now again the software issue from reliance.........I smell fishy business tricks from reliance.

R-World is not working on LG 6130 from about 6 months without a software upgrade which is charged. The most annoying part is that LG service centre guys try to scare the customer seeking software upgradation by saying that the cost of mainboard would have to be beared by customer in case anything goes wrong during upgradation. They also say that R-World apps are down most of the times and it is not useful to upgrade phone software just for R-World. Shocking really.

According to LG company, software upgrades are not chargeable even after warranty period. I had seen this message sticked in an LG service centre in chennai :confuse:

@ganesh

Much water (or is it sewage) has passed in the Buckingam Canal. (just joking, don't take seriously)

You are probably not aware about the new messages stuck on the LGASC notice boards in Chennai nowadays.

It is chargeable at Rs 75 plus 12.24% ST if the handset is not under warranty. If it is under warranty, then it is free.

And yes, why not make hay while the sun shines???? After all, Reliance also is making huge money now, so why should LG be behind??? You see, the new handsets are priced so low, then where will the revenue come from? Agreed that this charge is justifiable, but the punch-line of "we are not responsible if the board goes defective" is too much to digest. It only proves their incompetence nowadays and also the fact that the components used nowadays are really of a very cheap quality.

The new catch-line of ADAG says it all - "think bigger, think better" only for Reliance, let the customers be damned.

So folks, get ready to junk Reliance and switch onto the GSM bandwagon as early as possible.

Well, most people I know who use GSM dont even know that this concept of firmware upgrade exists! I guess its only us CDMA users who are penalised like this! And its not just the cost ....but also the inconvinence of going all the way to a service centre to get the job done ...which itself can take some time. And if something goes wrong, you get screwed and milked some more! Not to mention your number may be unusable for sometime (no SIM). With these kinda things CDMA will die sooner rather than later...

:Confuso: Correct if I'm wrong but technically CDMA is is programmed by the service provider and tata indicom works the same way....I have noticed this problem in GSM and I suspect the 'surf the net' and getting a dowload with viruses.Remember these sets and their programmes do not have a virus protection yet. My suspicion is stronger coz my there are users with these phones not having any problems with R world operations....the only difference is they do not surf.

I fully agree with you. Reliance is out there to do big business (unfortunately) on the expense of customers.

Take for ex. when LG 6230 was introduced it was priced Rs. 8000 and after months it went down to 7000 now its near 6000 (as i have heard). This shows the cost of handset is actually low and the company tries to make astronomical profits by charging high price by creating euphoria.

The customer care is just a sweet face. most of the time they themselves don't have the enough knowledge and suggest weird options to add to frustration of customers.

As far as pricing is concerned, I think LG is one of the most honest guys....WHY?

In GSM, just see Nokia or Motorola handsets: Nokia 6600 was launched at appx Rs.18-20K, and now you get it for around 8K or lesser...and Motorazr was launched for >20K and is now selling for Rs.8999 or even lesser (and all with bill). Compared to this, LG does'nt drop their price atleast this much! So why blame LG or Reliance alone for this...all are same.

But yes, coming back to the issue of charging a price for s/w upgrade, I too belive its not fair. After all, the bug is also becoz of LG's programmer's and not becoz of user's fault.
