Recommended Posts

A chinese company Yulong- has made worlds First Dual mode- GSM + CDMA phone working on both networks at same time. Its based on windows CE platform. It supports RUIM CARD.

Its currently supported only in chinese version with China Unicom. However English language phone is expected in October 06. The market price in china is close to 700$ US. This phone uses complete set of 2 hardware needed for GSM & CDMA.

However, the Yulong 728 G2 ( GSM + GSM) Dual network phone is out in English language support. this phone supports 2 GSM networks at same time.

I searched the forum for word YULONG & got no Results, so i assume this is the first post regarding this phone.

now dual phones,

What is it: the T66 is a phone that operates on both gsm and cdma networks

who has it: reliance communications is the first operater to offer the handset. in fact, after china unicom, relianceis only the second company in the world to offer such a service.

why: reliance is saddled with a legacy that includes gsm networks in places such as hp, west bengal, madhyapradesh and the north east. users in these circles could not roam into and out of reliance cdma netowrks and the phone will help as the company migrates from cdma to gsm across the country

what other features does it have: well , this is a fairly high end handset with a 1.3 megapixel camera, two 2.6 inch colour screens and othertoys.

how much does it cost: reliance has not officially launched the phone yet, but expect it to bi in the Rs 10000 price band

a little earlier .... between march and sep 2007 we can see a lot of stuff with Rim enabling CDMA and GSM tech...

but again therez a small glitch ... the GSM slot is locked to Reliance GSM network!!!!! (thatz the current line of action being planned) ... chaps in the ASC's for UT starcom can certify that to you :winko:

cheers
