Help! Ip Conflict In Windows, Not In Linux

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I have a Tata Indicom BB connection (ethernet based) at my home, and have been facing a peculiar problem for the past few days. The machine is dual boot (WinXP and Suse 10.1), if I logon to windows, I get the message the IP is currently in use on the network - and am unable to use the internet. However, if I boot into Suse, everything works fine. The network settings in both OSs are exactly the same.

This has led me to believe that windows is the cause of the problem. Any ideas on how to get the net working on windows?

Are you absolutely sure that the settings on both windows and linux are exactly the same? Maybe in windows you have selected static IP by mistake or something.....

Its static IP on windows and Linux. I do not have DHCP in my area. Anyway, it started working sometime in the afternoon yesterday.

So its fixed now ? I have TATA Indicom BB (router modem) too with static IP, and I switch between Windows XP Pro and RHEL4, but never had any problems with IP.
