prathod 3 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Mtnl has launched unlimited internet on its garuda mobile/landline for Rs.299 per month with a one time activation charge of Rs.125. Hope reliance also comes out with something like this.
amtrag 20 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Just imagine how many customers would there be on mtnl garuda?...very very less compared to airtel, reliance, hutch etc...in fact not even comparable! So now compare the cost mtnl would have to bear by giving unlimited internet on garuda with how much reliance would have to incur in case it decides to match mtnl???... So don't expect. prathod 3 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Mtnl also has a large garuda user base and after seeing this ad in todays paper many people will go for it,and mtnl, even in other plans, charges only for data downloaded and not like reliance and tata which charge u for data transfer that is upload and download. It is just the cream in the name of data transfer/data downloaded,I dont think isps pay for data transfer to get bandwidth. I think bsnl and mtnl are bringing a revolution in the internet arena, just as reliance did a few years ago to the telecom feild by making incoming free on mobiles. vijaykv 5 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Hi, Even I have Triband 199 which offers 400mb downloading and the speed is quite good. But I have taken a landline just for this broadband and I am paying 160 plus + modem Rs. 80 as rental without any free calls. Now IPTV is on anvil and the hope of bsnl's new scheme of cheaper local call and std may be aped by mtnl is keeping me glued with this landline scheme which is quite expensive while comparing with Garuda, which provides mobile for 100 rupees monthly rental with 25 calls free + unlimited internet for 250. If the speed of internet through Garuda is good then I have to rethink. regards
Honest 836 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 FWP Garuda provides nearly 30 to 35 kbps bandwidth only. Its very very poor speed. I don't recommed for it. God knows about the bandwidth of Garuda Mobiles. Regards.

superneo 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2006 Guys I am using Airtel's GPRS for six months now and man it rocks !. I am in Mumbai. I connect to my laptop via Nokia 6630. It works like a charm. Imagine just one downtime since six months !!. This downtime was for 3 hours. Apart from that, just great service. It gives me 7 KB download speed at day time and 15 KB at night. Sometimes, using Download Accelerator Pro, I get speed of 25KB to 30 KB even in day time !. I am using a pre-paid card. The BEST part of this GPRS service by Airtel is, its costing me 7 bucks per day !!!. Thats all !!. How cheap internet can be ..7 bucks a day for unlimited internet access. RIM, now beat that !! Reliance /Tata they have to think twice in their package with Airtel unlimited advance gprs at Rs 7.00 [ per day] really market is becoming now matured and competitive. cmahendra 9 Report post Posted October 22, 2007 Mtnl has launched unlimited internet on its garuda mobile/landline for Rs.299 per month with a one time activation charge of Rs.125.Hope reliance also comes out with something like this. I have GarudaFW Prepaid connection. They call it WLL (Wireless in Local Loop) and we call it CDMA. Anyways, the Internet connection is not availlable at all to PREPAID GARUDA users. It was not there when I suscribed a year before and even just now called there toll free number 1502 and the operator said its not available now too. Just an update for prepaid garuda users. Honest 836 Report post Posted October 22, 2007 ^^^ @C. Mahendra My dear friend, I don't know what Garuda provides now a days on their prepaid services but previously they do provide Internet services on prepaid also @ 0.10 per 30KB. As you told that you had called 1502 and confirmed that they are not providing internet services on prepaid. Here please note that CC of MTNL is much more worst than Reliance. They are no good at all. Once I called them for an enquiry of internet service with Garuda. I asked them about the package contents / accessories of Garuda FW. I asked them does data cable for internet comes free with Garuda FW handset. The executive asked me "WHAT DO YOU MEEN BY DATA CABLE ? WHAT IS DATA CABLE ?" Hope that I should not say anything further for this. You must confirm from the exchange itself for 100% surity. Anybody using Garuda Aajeevan 699/- which is recently launched, can you tell us about the packaged contents. Means does we get Data cable with this FW or we have to purchase it seperately from the exchange. Actually in Delhi, MTNL people are selling the data cable for a fee of Rs.100/- extra apart from the cost of Garuda handset. And in the last I want to state one more thing. Some of my friends are using Garuda for Internet at good speeds after PINGING the connection. PING method could be of great use for Garuda users. Regards. Mahendra My dear friend, I don't know what Garuda provides now a days on their prepaid services but previously they do provide Internet services on prepaid also @ 0.10 per 30KB. Regards. @Honest I see you everywhere I go in the forum I confirmed at 1502 just today as a repeat confirmation. 1502 is toll free Usually I myself go to MTNL Exchange for paying our 3 landline phone bills and also to buy Rs.110/- voucher required for my GARUDA FW (TalkTime Rs.90, Outgoing Call validity 30 days.) I am on 2 year Garuda FW Plan. Do you know GARUDA FW is the only connection in India which have Incoming Call Validity of 2 years but you need to recharge for OUTGOING CALL VALIDITY PERIOD too. I felt cheated when my outgoing calls stopped after one month of Subscription. I try to keep asking them the new plans or any new announcements if any. In fact I recently asked at exchange also and the Garuda counter people also told be in their idiotic voice "Garuda FWP ke liye inernet nahi hai". Yes the people at exchange are ignorant of most things. DO YOU KNOW THESE IDIOTS HAVE WORLD'S BEST TECHNOLOGY IN HAND, BUT WASTED DUE TO GOVT EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE? I have personally seen the infrastructure inside the EXCHANGE and all the working of E10B and other latest systems. But all waste. One more thing, the cable does not come with FW with MTNL. You need to buy it seperately. Agar hota toh bhee saale CHORI karke alagse bechte. I am not sure but they said something around Rs.200/- or something like that for it. Dont remember, its at least 4 months before I asked just to know. Could be more too. As I did not yet tried GARUDA FW internet (cannot be more than 144kbps as per CDMA spec) I cannot give more details on its speed. I even dunno how to get good speed by PINGING Mtnl. Please explain or give me link with details. Chow
Honest 836 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 ^^^ @C. Mahendra My dear friend you have to search the forum for full details about the PING method. There are many threads in the forum in which you will get the details. Regards.
