Reading The Sim Card

can someone help me out in reading the SIM from the PC and accessing the network services through the SIM menu without using the mobile phone and the data cables, Bluetooths. I want a device for it that can just be plugged into PC/Laptop. and where can i buy this

SIM card readers are availalbe in the market just for this purpose. Try searching on ebay.

sim card readers are there but card readers don't have network connectivity. so if i say that I have to send SMS through the pc then card reader will not work. yes i agree that i can read the stored SMS and the phone book. but i can't make calls.

my purpose is to access the sim card and execute the SIM card functions directly from the PC.

U can go in for PCIMCA based GSM modems with Voice capablities .. they are as good as a phone - excluding the actual display etc

and well the last one i used worked perfectly esp to send and receive text messages

ashok!! do u know about the pricing of GSM modem and stuff ? which is the best one !! what kinds are there !! + the most important whats the programming interface (i would prefer ones which have c# compatibility)

There is no limit for programming compatiblity! you can have anything since the communication for both messaging and voice is thro attention codes itself! so any language can do [that allows accessing ports and communication ... ] (till where i see).
