Puneet 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 Software looks cool, and identifies my phone too. But am getting error while opening the database. Am attaching the snapshot, as well the error details. As it is not able to open the database, nothing works after that. I have WinXpSP2 and Office 2007. I also have .NET Framework 1.1 as well as 2.0 installed. Please let me know what might be going wrong in here. And thanks for developing a software and distributing it for free. See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime. at System.DateTimeParse.Parse(String s, DateTimeFormatInfo dtfi, DateTimeStyles styles) at System.DateTime.Parse(String s, IFormatProvider provider) at System.Data.ConstNode..ctor(DataTable table, ValueType type, Object constant, Boolean fParseQuotes) at System.Data.ExpressionParser.Parse() at System.Data.DataExpression..ctor(DataTable table, String expression, Type type) at System.Data.DataView.set_RowFilter(String value) at System.Data.DataView.System.ComponentModel.IBindingListView.set_Filter(String value) at System.Windows.Forms.BindingSource.set_InnerListFilter(String value) at System.Windows.Forms.BindingSource.SetList(IList list, Boolean metaDataChanged, Boolean applySortAndFilter) at System.Windows.Forms.BindingSource.ResetList() at System.Windows.Forms.BindingSource.set_DataSource(Object value) at HPSMS.SMSForm.RefreshData() at HPSMS.SMSForm.OpenData() at HPSMS.SMSForm.btnBrowse_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam) ************** Loaded Assemblies ************** mscorlib Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/mscorlib.dll ---------------------------------------- HPSMS-Server Assembly Version: 1.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 1.0.0.0 CodeBase: file:///C:/Program%20Files/HPTrade/HPSMS-Server/HPSMS-Server.exe ---------------------------------------- Microsoft.VisualBasic Assembly Version: 8.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/Microsoft.VisualBasic/8.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll ---------------------------------------- System Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Windows.Forms/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Windows.Forms.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Drawing Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Drawing/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Drawing.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Runtime.Remoting Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Runtime.Remoting/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Runtime.Remoting.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Configuration Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Configuration/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.Configuration.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Xml Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_MSIL/System.Xml/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Xml.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Data Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_32/System.Data/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Data.dll ---------------------------------------- System.Transactions Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_32/System.Transactions/2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089/System.Transactions.dll ---------------------------------------- System.EnterpriseServices Assembly Version: 2.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 2.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) CodeBase: file:///C:/WINDOWS/assembly/GAC_32/System.EnterpriseServices/2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a/System.EnterpriseServices.dll ---------------------------------------- ************** JIT Debugging ************** To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this application or computer (machine.config) must have the jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. HetalDP 947 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 hi..does it support nokia 6585 also If your Handset 6585 can Support DKU-2 or CA-53 Cables then this software should run on it Hetal Patel Nasik, Maharashtra
Puneet 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 There was no need to uninstall/reinstall anything. I changed the date format to M/d/Y, and it worked. But I normally prefer d/m/y format for my computer, maybe if you could add something in the software which first checks the date format used on comp and then uses it might be helpful. Anyway thanks again for the software.

I am having 6265 and also a CA 53 cable. I also got the same error as Puneet. What is MDAC2.7 and above? On your webpage link that you have given here, there are two links which download the same file 22.4MB (dotnetfx) and also your file (HP-SMS server.msi) It would be better for us novices if geeks like you could give some more details on using your SW. Also how to use BlueSoleil Sw with your SW? Thanks Edited November 23, 2006 by khs123

Puneet 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 @khs123 Check the date format in regional settings -> customize -> date for your comp. Change the short date format to M/d/yyyy (basically the American style) and you are done. Restart the HPSMS-Server, and it should work fine. Worked for me. And if you have WinXpSP2, in all probability you already have MDAC2.7 installed.
KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 (edited) ^^^ thanks puneet for your instant help. I tried resetting the date formats. Do we need to uninstall dotnetfx, HP-SMS Server and then reinstal both these? I have winXPProSP2 on my system. So MDAC2.7 may already be installed. Ok, if we do the unins and reins and then how do we use the SW? the options are not very clear. There is no help menu. I mean how do we send or receive SMSs etc. Thanks once again Edited November 23, 2006 by khs123
Puneet 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 @khs123: Make sure your error is "String was not recognized as a valid DateTime". In that case there is no need of any uninstall/reinstall. Just set the date format to M/d/yyyy, and then right click on HPSMS-Server icon in the system tray, click on shutdown, and then restart. This should work now. To send SMS, 1) first you have to configure the server to use your phone, so go to connections tab, use detect phone, and then select your phone in the top-left pane. if any other modem is also selected, deselect it. Click on Start Server button. 2) Go to import SMS TAB -> Manual SMS-> add the number and the message, and then click on send to queue. And you are done, message is sent now. Test it by sending a message to your own number. Hope this helps.
KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 (edited) ^^^ Now there is no error. I have done everything as you have advised. My phone has been detected, selected in the top left pane, etc. Now I went to the SMS tab, went to the manual tab, typed my own number, typed out a message. Now where is the "send to queue' radio button? I am unable to see it. My display resolution is set to 1024 x 768 True Color, I tried changing that also to 800 x 600 and also to 640 x 480. But the Send to Queue radio button is missing. Where is it? Now what to do? Thanks, Puneet for your efforts. Edited November 23, 2006 by khs123

tanveer 59 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 strange but I think you should be able to see it. seems to be some kind of display problem only. the red boxed button is the one I think HP will be able to tell you about it.
Puneet 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 @khs123: You need to increase the resolution of your monitor to 1024 X 768 atleast. The aplication's GUI doesn't readjusts itself to screen resolution and cuts out remaing part. Am attaching a screenshot of my Imort SMS tab, with the location of "Send to Queue" marked. If you comapre it with your screen, you'll see that about a quarter of the screen is missing on the right side, and the button is hidden there.
KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted November 23, 2006 ^^^^ Thanks a lot, puneet and tanveer. My display res. is by default 1024 x 768 always. I will try once again and revert. Thanks once again.
