kshah 452 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Copying data is not enough, can you read it successfully? 'coz in duplicate they tweak MBR and FAT tables in such a way that it shows more memory. Read more at http://www.s1mp3.org/en/ Ofcourse it does not pertain to only flash drives, but it is possible with flash drives

GSV13 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 How much is warranty??? Kingston 1 Gb is priced for 1000Rs with 5 yr warranty in Delhi!!
ani_meher 42 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 Also, the write/read speeds are important, especially when the drive capacity is high. A transcend v series 1gb drive costs around 1k, where as jetflash 120/130 etc cost around 1.5k for 1gb because of the difference in writing speed. v series writing speed is 2mbps, whereas the other has speed of 8mbps. so u may want to keep this in mind as well. Remember, if any deal or anything sounds too good to be true, then it just might as well be.
amitstg 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2006 it is available in a loose packing, is very small but looks very original, has sony written on side and VAIO on the other
Honest 836 Report post Posted December 4, 2006 ^^^ @amitstq My dear friend I think the offer u r getting is definetely for the duplicate drive. These types of branded duplicate pen drives are easily available at Heera Panna market in Mumbai. It will be better if you try formatting it on low level and see the available space. Do not Quick format it. Keep in mind while purchasing this drive that u won't get warranty of this Pen Drive. Your dealer will say that u will get the warranty. But whenever u have the problem with this drive u can't get it serviced at authorised service centres of SONY. Only your dealer from which u r planning to purchase this drive will give u the warranty. These type of dealers gives warranty on their behalf only. They repair your drive with their private technicians and return u the drive from 10 to 15 days. So, my dear friend think 100 times before buying. Regards. rEdshiFt 1 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 (edited) 8 GB at that price is a good deal, even if its a 'duplicate' - even if u get only 6 gb or so of 'real capacity' Check eBay for price levels check this link for tips about spotting fake pen drives, i saw a sony & vaio pen drive picture, like u've mentioned, on the page http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/Beware-of-FAKE-1...000000000953346 try dropping in a sony authorized showroom and see if they have a similar model... and ask if the warranty would apply to pieces bought elsewhere Edited December 5, 2006 by rEdshiFt
Honest 836 Report post Posted December 5, 2006 ^^^ @redshift My dear friend I don't think that Sony will give him the warranty. Even u can't get warranty of original Sony products if it is not sold through a proper channel. By that I mean if the product is sold through the distributor only than one will be able to get it serviced at authorised service centres of Sony. And if it is imported by an importer that u won't get warranty from service centre. Only importer will give u the warranty, he will get it repaired by his personal technicians. Regards.
