Reliance SIM (RUIM) available ?

Recommended Posts

RUIM doesn't carry any ESN and MIN.

Same with SIM doesn't carry IMEI.

Bro Sadik....

These CDMA smart cards, called Removable User Identity Modules (R-UIMs), are used to hold and protect all of the subscriber’s data necessary to receive wireless services.

And For the Sim.. I didn't said it has IMEI no. I said IKEI no.

The SIM stores network state information such as its current Location Area Identity (LAI). If the handset is turned off and back on again it will take data off the SIM and search for the LAI it was in. This saves time by avoiding having to search the whole list of frequencies that the telephone normally would. Each SIM is uniquely identified by its ICCID (International Circuit Card ID).

SIM cards identify users uniquely by holding an International Mobile Subscriber Identity.

Sorry I am not Ashoksoft or Kshah, but I would like to confirm Kingofkalyan's claim that Ruim cards has Esn and Min,I have an old Tata Ruim reprogrammed (cdma channels) and have given the ruim's Esn to Mtnl and activated my Garuda no on that ruim, the only problem I have is I am unable to delete the prl of the Ruim(I had asked Ashoksoft if he could help me in that but he had no clue to it that time) so I have to manually disable the prl if I change the handset,I have tweaked the nokia handset to enable and disable prl using keypad.

And after my esn was updated by Mtnl Garuda I had to dial *228 and I got a new min downloaded to my handset ota to my ruim.

@supernova

It was a prepaid tata ruim. And believe me all ruims have esn I have reliance ruims they have rsn printed on them but if u have proper reader u can edit them and even view the esn.

The tata cards available nowadays dont mention the esn no on the card, but if u see the older ruims those which were red in color u could see the esn printed on them.

if you search the forum here u will find many references to rsn of ruim cards,as I remember reading some of them.

Got it while googling.....

From one of the FAQ's

Source - http://www.cdg.org/resources/white_papers/...Y%20GEMPLUS.pdf

9) What modifications do I need in my network?

None. You can use an R-UIM “out-of-the-box”. The R-UIM should be configured

appropriately with the MIN, Home SID/NID, PRL, A-Key, and UIMID. The UIMID will

serve as the equivalent of an ESN for subscription identification and authentication.

Operators must load their HLR/AUC with corresponding UIMID values provided by

Gemplus in the Output File.

Input data from the operator is used to correctly provision the card during

personalization. Additional services such as remote file/application management will

require an OTA platform for the CDMA network.

I'll make a try to clear all your doubts.

There are 3 entities in case of RUIM enabled handset.

1. Mobile equipment <Mobile>

2. Mobile station <Your subscription/Your phone number>

3. User Identification <Your RUIM card >

All three has to be tied for the phone to work in network.

For the above 3 entities you've 3 IDs respectively

1. MEID - Mobile Equipment IDentity <will be present only in mobile and unique>

2. MSID - Mobile station IDentity <will be in RUIM if RUIM enabled handset else programmed in mobile>

3. UIMID - User Identification Module Identifier <will be present only in RUIM>

To further clarify

1.ESN is older version of MEID. IMEI<International Mobile Equipment Identifier> is GSM term for MEID.

2.MIN is older version of MSID. IMSI<International Mobile Subscriber Identity> is GSM term for MSID.

3.SIM is GSM version of RUIM

Hope I've not confused you.

Nokia 6330 does not support CDMA.

It supports only WCDMA which is 3G of GSM and EDGE.

As for as I know there are no dual mode handsets available with nokia.

Motorola A840 is dual mode and its available in TATA.

Just inserting RUIM should work with any CDMA operators(Garuda/TATA/Reliance).

This phone supports 900/1800 GSM also. I'm not aware in which band GSM is operational in India.

If Band matches then it should work for SIM insertion too....

Somewhere I've read that TATA have disbaled the GSM operation on this phone and they'll enable only if you go for international roaming. This can be tweaked and can be made to work in Indian GSM network.

there was so much technical in the discussion that...

made me believe that it was all very good. :NOTriste:

and again because it almost went over my head..... <_<

one thing i know for sure is that Tata SIM and Relance RUIM can work on one handset. (i am just trying to find some solace to say that 'i know something too! :Decepcionado: )
