abhay 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2006 Kingfisher Airlines duped of Rs 17 croreIn the most brazen act of cloning credit cards yet, Kingfisher Airlines has allegedly been duped of Rs 17 crore. A nationwide gang of frauds cloned cards at restaurants and malls and then used them to book lakhs of airline tickets reports CNBC-TV18. Skimming attacks continue unabated. In the most sensational case so far, Kingfisher Airlines has filed a complaint with the Mumbai police after being cheated of Rs 17 crore in an online ticket booking fraud. Police sources say credit card details procured from restaurants, petrol pumps and shopping mall employees were used to book tickets online. The police believe it's a nationwide organized racket as tickets were booked from across the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. The Mumbai police has asked Kingfisher officials to submit the exact details of the credit cards that were used to book airline tickets. A formal FIR is yet to be registered by the Mumbai police. Sources say middlemen would buy tickets online using details of credit cards such as the card number and CVV number given behind the card. The tickets were then sold for a discount. Usually a bank always files the police complaint when a credit card is misused. This is the first time that an airline has done the same after the bank charged the amount to Kingfisher. Sources say many more airlines might have been duped in a similar fashion. http://news.moneycontrol.com/india/newsart...p?autono=257906 i say from now on don't let ur card go out of sight!! even @ malls / petrol pumps try and see what exatly they are doing with ur card
