Chirag 5 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Reliance Infocomm Presents APSARA Film Producers Guild Awards About Apsara: Source Link The Film Producers Guild of India, in its golden jubilee year, has announced the "Apsara Film Producers Guild of India Award" to recognize achievements in the field of films and television. It can be described aptly as an award " of the industry, by the industry, for the industry". These awards are presented by Reliance Infocomm. All the films released between April 1, 2003 and March 31, 2004 will automatically be considered for entry. Termed as India's Oscars, the nominations for Apsara awards have already been announced at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai. The inaugural Apsara awards function will take place on May 29 this year. Among the categories, in which the awards would be given, include 'best screenplay,' 'best lyrics,' 'best actor' and the 'best actress'. A total of 36 categories, including 23 from cinema and 13 from television (both fiction and non-fiction), will be honoured at the grand finale. With big-budget blockbusters competing alongside television content and crossover films, entries will be judged on overall quality, content, cinematic brilliance and individual merit. The 50-year old Film Producers Guild has over 160 members, who constitute the most powerful and influential luminaries in its sector. The Awards will be audited by Pricewaterhouse Coopers who incidentally also have the honour of having audited the most distinctive film awards in the world - the Oscars for the past 68 years. R World Contest: RIM users can also take part in Apsara contest for which the clues would be aired on NDTV and win a couple passes to the award function. Some interesting and unknown facts about the films and actors can be known at the Did you know? section. The users can also download wallpapers from the Apsara award zone.
