iiii_pretender_iiii 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Hi people, BREW (binary runtime environment for wirless platform) develepors have been quite busy lately. BREW SDK 3.0 for qualcomm chipsets has been officially released. "Since the launch of BREW, we've had 4.4 million game downloads which is a very substantial number. We're very excited about that. It's allowed us to create a viable business. Mitch Lasky, Chief Executive Officer, JAMDAT Mobile Inc. With this SDK softwares like bitpim can be created, that can communicate with wireless platforms over the brew protocol. Application/games can also be created, But this might not be supported by reliance handsets. Might take some time to get to know things, but it can be done ... You can download the SDK at the following link https://brewx.qualcomm.com/brew/sdk/download.jsp you can login using "manoj-nair@indiatimes.com" or create a id. To be able to access this section, You must create a develepor id. Numerous tools/documentation for BREW development are also available at the site. I was however unable to download from this site. (but considering my mtnl dialup connection, im mostly unable to download anything frm any site mostly ) Chirag, you may wanna try out that link. Check if you are able to download. Chirag 5 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Chirag, you may wanna try out that link. Check if you are able to download. Though i understand absolutely nothing out of this, I dl all wht i can from those links for u and Surojit. There are quite some links on that page which require Developer's Authentication. This is wht it read like, to get such an authentication Become a BREW™ Developer/AuthenticationTo become a BREW Developer you must be authenticated. The process contains four parts: 1. Applying for the VeriSign™ Class 3 Certificate. 2. Completing the BREW ISV registration form and reviewing and accepting the BREW Developer Agreement. 3. Registering with the NSTL Test Center. 4. Reviewing Operator Guidelines. Once authenticated, developers receive all the benefits of the BREW Alliance Program. Registered members of the developer company will receive a user name and password providing access to a variety of BREW Developer benefits and tools located in a password-protected section of the brew.qualcomm.com web site, known as the BREW Developer Extranet. To apply for a VeriSign Class 3 Certificate, also known as an Authentic Document Digital ID, and become an authenticated BREW Developer, a developer needs to follow these four steps: Step One: Applying for the VeriSign Class 3 Certificate A: Complete the online VeriSign application located at the following URL: http://www.verisign.com/products/brew. An email will be sent containing the order number and confirming the request for an Authentic Document Digital ID. FEE: US$400 per year for 100 applications B: VeriSign will go through its developer verification process (this takes on average five business days). Upon approval an email will be sent to the developer company business contact that was designated in the online application. This email will provide instructions for installing the Authentic Document Digital ID. C: Once the Authentic Document Digital ID has been installed a final email from VeriSign will confirm the developer company's receipt of the Authentic Document Digital ID. D: QUALCOMM will send an email to the business contact identified on the developers company's VeriSign application shortly after installation of the Authentic Document Digital ID. The email will provide the developer company's business contact with a user name, password and URL specifically set up to access the BREW Developer Agreement. Step Two: Completing the BREW ISV registration form and reviewing and accepting the BREW Developer Agreement A: The developer company's business contact then links to the following URL https://brewx.qualcomm.com/signup/index.jsp...mpanysignup.jsp and signs in with their user name and password. Upon login they complete the ISV registration form, register the developer company's BREW Developer Extranet users with individual levels of security access, and review and sign the BREW Developer Agreement by clicking 'I accept." B: QUALCOMM sends an individual email to each member of the developer company designated to gain access to the BREW Developer Extranet. This email will contain a user name, password and URL enabling login to the BREW Developer Extranet based on their individual security levels. Step Three: Registering with the NSTL Test Center A: Complete the online NSTL registration form located at the following URL https://www.nstl.com/nstl/index.htm. Download, review, sign and fax back the Master Agreement with NSTL. Step Four: Reviewing Operator Guidelines A. Most BREW Operators require developers to sign the operator's developer agreement prior to accepting BREW applications on their commercial catalogs. It is highly recommended that you review each operator's guidelines and contact the designated business contact or web site to ensure you have fulfilled the operator's legal agreement requirements. Access to specific operator guidelines require authentication. If someone amongst u'll is ready to pull out those dollars, we can have quite something Manoj, Rest of the links i'll download n give it to u on a CD... we shall meet up someday soon
iiii_pretender_iiii 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2004 Hmm... Seems its not my connection problem... Tried today again frm a friends house, Seems they provide licences to corporates to develeop using BREW. So if a company wants to use BREW, they need to licence their copy, then they can download the SDK. Strange, since its a open development platform, one would expect it to be free, like linux. Chirag, if we cant download the SDK, then the tools are no use. However you may wanna keep those. who knows... Just dont write it to a cd yet, cause if we dont get the SDK, you stand to lose a Cd.
