Need Some Suggestions :)

Recommended Posts

Yo pals,

after almost 3.5 years with reliance, and loads of handsets later ... I guess the time has come to rethink :D

Surging bills, increase in cost for most of the services and the walled garden has already started to get on my nerves.

I was going thro the priceplans offered by other networks, and found some which are quite appealing. Plan to move to one of them.

But for the same I would have to get myself a GSM handset (and it is ages since I used one ... except the test handsets at office) :D

Can anyone help me choose a nice handset which is not too overpriced, supports WiFi, Bluetooth, ability to support expansion (Memory and Application installation), PPC's / Smartphones would be preference (windows / Palm / Linux), threadablity to support applications that take heavier Processing cycles - say something like Skype :D

if anyone has a handset for sale ... do lemme know !!!

Cheers

ashok

Would strongly recommend the Nokia E series. The E61/62 are pretty good for what you need. And all these are sub 20k handsets.

I just got a E50 for my dad. All he needed was a good screen and a large capacity for his phone book. But E61 can run a lot of applications. My friend has one and the screen is amazing. It supports 16 million colors. I played Doom on the phone - supports Skype too.

If you check discussion forums on these phones, one recurring problem is the rebooting of the phone. But I guess new editions of firmware can fix that.

Yes, the E series will satisfy your requirements very well. But we will miss you and your reviews if you shift to GSM.

Anyway it is a very good move and more people need to quit Reliance now for them to understand what is customer loyalty. Increasing tariffs of almost all services left right and center will only alienate existing, loyal customers from them. There appears no difference at all now between CDMA and GSM tariff wise. And choice of handsets is vast in GSM anyday. More and more Reliance customers will definitely shift to GSM now onwards. The trend will start now. Hiking all rates like this without the commensurate increase in quality services and handsets will only lead to an exodus from Reliance. Hope they wake up in the new year. Sleeping and Snoring will not be tolerated anymore.

Enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Guess E61 should suffice ... but I do not see a Symbian version around :SI: I know that our company launched a version of Skype bundled with Nokia N73 and SE W850i (with the title as x-series). but I do not see the app available anywhere :( .

But again the WiFi seems a suspect with the E61.

Check this comparision I did on Nokia's site

Does this sound a decent purchase ?

another thing which I found to have some discrepency was WiFi again ... the seller has stated WiFi in the heading ... but in the specs it shows WLAN - NO

and Imate's website also does not claim WiFi on this phone anyway!

E61 is the way to go (at least my way to go) man. S60 phone with mega support for apps. And solid build. Unless a camera is a deal breaker for you don't look anywhere else.
