"It was between 5.30 am (0230 GMT)and 6.30 am (0330 GMT)" and "the whole thing was filmed," said the official. "Saddam was hanged first, then Barzan, then Bandar," Rayis added. Meanwhile, Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Labeed Abbawi also told the BBC on Saturday that Saddam Hussein has been executed. "I believe so, yes. He has been executed. It has been officially announced that he has been executed," Abbawi said in a phone interview with BBC News 24. Iraqi official television station Al-Iraqiya announced that "criminal Saddam was hanged to death." Earlier, U.S.-backed Iraqi TV Al Hurra reported Saddam Hussein was executed by hanging shortly before 6 a.m. (0300 GMT) Saturday. Arabic satellite channel Arabiya also reported the execution had taken place. The execution took place after Saddam, who was born on April 28,1937, and was deposed by the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, was handed over to the Iraqi authorities from a U.S. camp near Baghdad international airport where he had been held. On Nov. 5, a panel of five Iraqi judges sentenced Saddam, his half-brother Barzan al-Tikriti and Iraq's former chief judge Awad Hamed al-Bandar to death by hanging for killing of 148 people in Dujail, some 60 km north of Baghdad. On Dec. 3, the defense lawyers of Saddam officially appealed to the higher court against the death penalty imposed on Saddam and another two codefendants. Trust me, when saddam ran the show in iraq, the whole darn place was westernized, u could actually see women going to work wearing skirts and jeans. This execution and bush's policies will be affecting Indians directly or indirectly.I remember the petrol prices started rising (it was Rs.8.40) when senior bush came,and now after this cartoon took over,the price is going towards mars. God knows the man who Americans claim as Saddam, may be a duplicate of him. Well, they had done the DNA test of him and claimed that he is the original Saddam. But only God knows the truth. prathod 3 Report post Posted January 1, 2007 God knows about his duplicates,but for the general public its Saddam who has been executed,and the day which he was hanged will spell out different meanings for the two major groups of Muslims that is Sunni and Shia and the infighting between them will create a lot of trouble for all.With the amount of foresight USA has about different regions and thier policies it should have had prevented this which can cause great attacks on its soil.All of us are going to suffer directly or indirectly for George Bush's ego. Especially our Muslim Brothers must be patient at this moment. As revolt will only create the situation worst. After all Americans only wants to tap the oil resources of Iraq into their own hands which they does very cleverly. Further he also wrote that peace wud flourish ,all over the world, after 2025 for almost 1000 yrs.. and the most notable point is that peace wud flourish when INDIA wil b the superpower..
