Windows notifies us about the lower disk space and we are forced to delete some useless files or to resize the partition to get some free space. I'm posting this tutorial to tell some methods to get as mush FREE space as we can. But use it at your own risk. I'll not be responsible for any kind of damage/problem in your system. I hv been using these tips since many years and never faced any problem. ssr 10 Report post Posted January 8, 2007 (edited) Further disk space can be recovered by deleting the Hotfix Backup files For this we can delete directories starting with $NtUninstallK in windows folder. Note that the hotfix backup files are kept in the harddisk so that ppl can uninstall a hotfix if the sytem is not working properly after installing a hotfix. But if the system is working properly for many days then there is no use of these backup files or use the following tool http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm this tool removes hotfix backup data from harddisk and also from add/remove programs list. Frequent deleting of all directories and files under "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp" (C:\Documents and Settings\[LOGIN USER NAME]\Local Settings\Temp) . The above method recovers huge amount of disk space if you have not visited this directory for a long time and there is a folder in which adobe saves its downloaded programs/installation ( I donot remember). this will free around 50MB Edited January 8, 2007 by ss_rakesh Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
