Arun, Is reporting to the Mods working finely?

It was working fine, but it wasn't notifying me since I was not added as a moderator. I have now made some changes so that all reports would reach me as well, along with the other moderators assigned to a forum. I have also merged those topics.

Dear Arun and Moderators,

I have been posted more than 91 posts and still in my profile it is showing 91 posts. Whats the problem? Also I noticed that there is a Warn:(0%) and a bar in my each post. What is that? No other users have that. I think on my early(2005) days with rimweb, did administrators warned me. But I forget for what purpose they warned me. Please help me to solve this.

Every individual member can see that sign in their posts; If it is 0%, it means there are no warnings against you; so relax...

Not caring about the number of posts.. Just because of curiosity how the forums working and what is the meaning of warning symbols etc. I only noticed it today thats why I asked.

The Warn Status bar which you can see with your posts can't be viewed by other members. So only you can see your own warn status and you won't be able to see the warn status of other members. Each member can see their own warn status level only.

But Moderators can see all members Warning Status percentage.

If your warning status shows 0% or nothing then that means you have no warnings.

A forum cannot succeed on one person; its a wrangling of like minded people; though your idea of something like an INDEX is quite good and mods should seriously consider...

Bang on target there.. We need something like:

Handsets> CDMA Handsets> Palm> Palm Treo 755p> And then 'automated' sub-topics/categories like

1) Features>

2) ESN Activation process>

3) PRL Upgrade>

4) Issues with Roaming etc.

..Whatever sub-topics suitable.. as im no tech guy.

Due to the absence of such an index, there are multiple threads with different Topic names that confuse all members.

As we are aware, a lot of members, myself included sometimes cannot find certain answers even on Google search no matter how Great it claims to be.

This indexing is a very simple solution where default Topics are created within Main Topics by Admins/Mods & still if other ppl with specific queries cannot find it, they then have their new Topics posted.

Requesting your intervention in general for all categories. Initially we might have to simply follow 'Drag & Drop Topics' to respective Main Topics which might sound impractical for our Forum but proper filing is the need of the day.

Plz take note that a lot of discussions have already happened among different members in this regards.

Bulkier threads leads to frustration among members & many chose to ignore it as posts may not be in order & certain replies come after 4-5 posts.

Many categories are suffering because members don't think 2wice before starting a new Topic or phrasing it in a proper manner to avoid duplication/ambiguity. Just look at the GSM (Miscellaneous) section. Its a mess !

Actually I am not a big fan of having a single topic for all discussion. It is always better to have separate topics for different issues so that a member don't have to go through all the pages in a topic as ACS mentioned. If a new member repeats an already asked question in a new topic, he/she should be given the link to the proper topic and that topic should be closed.

Just look at the GSM (Miscellaneous) section. Its a mess !

Therefore, its not just about the duplication in questioning/posts but also duplication in Topics;

Once these ambiguous topics take off then we all know that everything is re-discussed under the sun & which gets confusing for Members who seem clueless about the real Topic.

Reason also being - It gets difficult for mods to take action after weeks before they realise or are reported.

I have reported several times but ive been told that its too late.

This action can take duplication out from the root.

Secondly, can we have some kind of an expand button (+) as we see in most sites instead of the sub-topics running into pages?

hmmm, looks like Invision has set a restriction there, maybe in an effort to prevent URL injection.

Not really. This just shows the topics with new posts since my last visit. I am looking to list down

a. all topics OR

b. all topics last modified between two dates I specify.

Either of the 2 will do the trick.

Nope. What I was expecting is that if I left the search text blank, it would return all the topics in the result.

U have to do it manually. If u need to see all the topics then there is no need of search.

Else just wait might be IPB 3 will have such feature.
