tanveer 59 Report post Posted January 27, 2007 Ok here are my problems 1. I can not get tar.gz packages to be installed. I change dir and drag the extracted folder and then ./configure and make Her the rpoblem starts. It says make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. This happens with every such package. .deb installation was simple. 2. I can not set my resolution any more than 1024x768. I d/l the intel drivers for my chipset, but again they are in tar.gz format and wont install 3. Torrent speed is really really poor. I used the default client, Azureus and Tribler. Tried to tweak some firewall settings too. Should I switch to bridge mode? 4. I need a graphical interface d/l manager. Tried D4X, not too impressed though. Multiget too isnt impressive. 5. Isnt there a clipboard option in office? 6. I need a simple image editor, GIMP looks to advanced for me. and by the way how do I change the brightness of the images in GIMP. linuxguy 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2007 1. You dont need tar.gz files to install softwares. Tell us the specific softwares you want to install. This can be very well accomplished using apt-get, yum or the likes 2. Refer to no.1 3. No need. Port forward and firewall settings 4. Try kget 5. Which office are you takling about? Koffice? OO? 6.
