Recommended Posts

STD at Rs. 1.20/min to any phone, anywhere

Keeping with the tradition of giving the best value to consumers, Reliance Communications today announced the launch of its exciting tariff plan 'Simply 2030', which enables Reliance Hello post-paid customers to make calls at Rs. 1.20 per minute anywhere in the country on any network.

"Simply 2030" brings simplicity for the customer, making his tariff easy to understand and without any hidden charges. A Reliance Hello post-paid customer will have to pay a monthly rental of Rs. 130/- to enjoy calls at Rs 1.20 per minute anywhere in the country on any network. This is the lowest STD tariff available at the lowest monthly commitment making it affordable to masses. This plan will benefit the entire gamut of customer segments including traders, small offices, executives, families residing in various parts of the country.

Announcing the Reliance Simply 2030, Mr. S. P. Shukla, President -Personal Business, Reliance Communications said, "Reliance has been the first to bring innovations to telecom industry. Last year Reliance was the first to launch India One tariffs for wireless customers, which changed the industry. Now our Hello customers can avail of similar facility at a very low monthly commitment. I am sure this plan would bring Reliance Hello customers closer to their near and dear ones alongwith their business partners without thinking much about their telephone bills."

This plan is available to Reliance Hello post-paid customers with '32' and '93' numbering plan.

BSNL and Indicom are better at Re 1 per minute. The only catch with both is that they charge Rs 180 per month and give Rs 50 worth free calls. Reliance is charging a premium of 20% for not giving free calls. And no news as yet on the local call charges.

Finally, Reliance has got up from its slumber and introduced this plan. Any ideas on why the 2030 name? Kumbhakarna is late to get up but is still groggy, so the complete details are still not available.

My dear friends I think this plan will be of little use for Hello customers. Now a days when callers talk endlessly even on long distance calls, this 1.20/minute looks too costly. Also monthly rental of Rs.130/- without free calls is a con for this plan.

Apart changing to this plan Reliance Hello customers can use STD calling card of Rs.225/- in which they will loose only 25/- as taxes and get 200/- talktime and call charges are 1.25 per minute.

Regards.

Certainly this plan is of no use to Reliance Hello customers since in this local calls are also charged at Rs.1.20/min for any phone. Its costly compared to One India 225 plan.

If you just consider only STD charges then the breakeven lies at 325 call units.

Simply 2030 ::

1.2 * 325 + 130(Rental) = 520

One India 225 ::

1 * (325 - 25(free calls)) + 225 (rental) = 525

So if you are calling only STD for less than 325 minutes (5.41 hrs ) per month then this plan is useful otherwise its useless.

The above equation is only within Reliance Hello and don't ever compare it with TATA/BSNL. They are way ahead in affordability.

I think this the first postpaid plan released for "Reliance Hello 10" customers and in that sense its really a great plan.

In that case it matches "Indicom 10 Plan 350" plan but TATA's 350 plan has free talktime of Rs.200 and STD call charges are at Rs.1 / min and local call charges at Rs.0.75/min and it has 2000 mins free internet usage at night.

RCL will never ever match the tariffs of TATA because they are now having 30 million customers whereas TATA has only about 10 million, give or take some millions. Correct the figures if they are wrong. As hp has said, when TATA reaches this milestone, they also will start increasing the rates like Airtel, Idea, RCL etc.

The logic is very simple - when you have 30 million customers, even a very small increase in rates or rentals will add upto your bottomlines dramatically. But in RCLs case, they want to increase the rates not in small steps but in a very huge jump and show highest ARPUs in the industry. Perhaps ADA also wants to sell out in a year or two. Having seen mind-boggling valuations of Hutch, ADA also will sell out one day in the near future. Who is worried about customers - only the ARPUs matter.

@kesav,

BSNL has introduced Plan 180 with 50 free calls and after this only RCL introduced Plan 2030. Your comparison with Plan 225 is a bit too old. 2030 is useless, I feel. :confuse::rofl_200::NOTriste:
