Samsung Electronics has announced a device called SPH-P9000 Deluxe MITs. Its futuristic design might be a sample of future 4G devices. the SPH-P9000 is a convergent device that can make voice calls and transfer data via Mobile WiMAX networks. There is the support of CDMA EV-DO cell networks.

Taking into account the dimensions, we have something between the PDA and the notebook-transformer. As for the opportunities and technical specs the SPH-P9000 is like the UMPC, but with compact size. It is powered by Windows XP. Its LCD features 5” diagonal and a WVGA resolution. The device comes with 256 MB RAM onboard, Transmeta processor, 30 GB HDD, 1.3-megapixel camera and folding QWERTY-keyboard. There is the support of Bluetooth interface and miniUSB port. Measuring 143x92x29.7 mm it weighs 560 g.

Those who find UMPC too big and do not prefer PDA for limited opportunities will like the device. The release won’t be soon – the first half of 2007 on the Korean market. The company hasn’t unveiled the price, the device doesn’t seem to be a budget model.

Mobile manufacturers prefer to equip their products with mocroSD cards and often forget to add Wi-Fi support. Spectec decided to meet user demands and introduced its microSD (to be more exact microSDIO) card SDW-823 with integrated Wi-Fi. According to the company this is the first microSDIO WiFi 11g card.

The card complies with IEEE 802.11b/g standard. The host device should support SDIO 1.0 specification. The SDW-823 measures 23.3x11x0.7 mm.

The British operator O2 has released a mobile phone called O2 Jet. It doesn’t have a camera or an MP3-player (however you can set MP3 melodies for incoming calls). It’s quite a simple model, however it features long battery life on a single charge.

First of all, O2 Jet is meant for businessmen who need to talk much on the phone (the phone lasts for 9.9 hours in talk mode and over 540 hours standby).

The phone works in GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) networks and supports GPRS and no 3G. Its LCD displays up to 65K colors. The only feature untypical for simple handsets is the support of Bluetooth and e-mail (POP3 and IMAP4) – the model is positioned as the business phone. Measuring 117x47x20 mm it weighs 121 g.

Nokia has posted the image of another mobile phone concept called Nokia AEON. Looking at the photos we guess that the model is peculiar for its front panel, which is almost sensor.

The interface of the concept is similar to another concept BenQ-Siemens Black Box, which displays control elements and menu depending on the current function. In any case the model looks very attractive.

Now Seamless Wi-Fi has published specs of this interesting device. It was initially positioned as a UMPC, and the company doesn’t argue with its previous statement. However in fact this isn’t a UMPC as it works on a processor and OS for PDA – Intel PXA 270 XScale 520 MHz and Windows CE 5.0.

The specs of S-XGen:

* Intel PXA 270 XScale 520 MHz

* 128 MB SDRAM

* 20 GB HDD

* Slot for MMC/SD cards

* GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz)

* Wi-Fi and Ethernet 100/10

* Bluetooth, IrDA, USB (OTG)

Minox has introduced an expensive version of the DC 1011 camera – the DC 1011 Carat. It doesn’t involve more advanced technologies, but gold and diamonds. 10 diamonds (0.03 carats each) are round the lens, and 24 carat gold is applied in the shell. Other specs are similar to the original version.

The camera is equipped with a 10.1-megapixel CCD-sensor, a 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 30 – 105 mm) and a 2.5” display. Video capture runs at VGA (640x480 pixels), 25 fps. I can hardly image anyone to really like this product, only to present it as a souvenir.

One of the most successful projects by Apple, iPod audio player has been cloned plenty of times by various companies to enjoy a part of iPod’s popularity. That’s why there was no doubt the new Apple iPhone would have the same destiny.

And indeed, it took less than a month since the announcement of the iPhone, a message emerged that the Chinese clone dubbed Meizu M8 should come out in 2008. One of the advantages of the M8 is the support of both GSM and 3G networks – the Chinese standard TD-SCDMA.

Китайский iPhone

Other specs are as follows: a 3.3” 720x480 pixels display, Bluetooth, a 3-megapixel camera with video capture (full 3-megapixel resolution, not many digital still cameras can do it) and small size 57x105x11.5 mm. However these might be just groundless rumors.

This phone seems so perfect! 9 hrs talktime! wow. but 121g is too heavy. Should've been under 100gms. For the very same reasons that the phone is designed, I went for N2865.

Keep it up! u r doing good work Shaikhsadik.

RIM Patents New Keypad Ideas for Blackberry

By: Aalaap Ghag | Feb 06,2007

After a full QWERTY keypad and SureType, expect some radical new innovations in keyboards on newer BlackBerry devices from RIM.

post-15346-1170770138_thumb.jpg

If these patent filings actually make it into the devices, you'll have a BlackBerry with a rotatable keyboard that gives you a more standard numeric keypad for phone usage and, when rotated, a more convenient QWERTY keypad for full text input.

Another idea is a flip phone which also has dual-keys. In normal orientation, the number keys are vertical ovals, but when used in a landscape mode, they serve as a full QWERTY keypad. Nothing too fancy here, but the idea of a clamshell BlackBerry is worth its weight!

post-15346-1170770155_thumb.jpg

The third concept doesn't seem too impressive. It's a rotating thing again, but the entire back part of the phone rotates to reveal a keypad on both sides of the phone. I think Nokia's E70 form factor is much better than this one.

No idea if any of these concepts will actually make it into any BlackBerry devices, but it's interesting to see what RIM has been thinking of.

Valentine's Day is just a few days away so if you don't have plans for your significant other, Tulip Ego has your back with their special Love Edition laptop. The notebook is clad in leather and its silver heart pendant can be engraved with any message you like, but other than that, pricing and features are mysteriously missing. Considering how their previous notebooks did, we're not expecting much, so you might be better off getting her something else.

Samsung's got quite a reputation with its improbably slim cellphones, and now it turns its expertise on the L77, a midrange point-and-shoot that it's calling the "world's thinnest 7-megapixel camera." No wonder it's called L77, because along with that 7-megapixel CCD, it has an unusually long 7x optical zoom as well. But the big news is its thin profile—just 21mm wide—and even with its diminutive size, it's still able to accommodate a 2.5 inch viewscreen on the back.

Too bad there's no optical image stabilization on board, just Samsung's ASR (advanced shake reduction) which is just boosting up the ISO number for faster shutter speeds. Samsung didn't announce the price of L77 yet, but said it will be shipping in April.

Now here's the way to build an iPod port into a car radio. This guy must be a great do-it-yourselfer, expertly modifying a cassette player so that the iPod can just slide right in like the old eight-track tapes of olden times. Nice touch with that little Apple logo there, too.

When you want to remove the iPod, you just push the eject button and it slides right out. C'mon car radio manufacturers, steal this idea. Or at least, pay this guy some royalties for it. It would be especially good if it accommodated a much-smaller iPod nano.

Feeding our clock jones is this Zero-G watch from Tokyoflash, showing you the time of day with an LCD that mimics the hands of an analog timepiece. Strangers won't have a clue about what time it is, but all it takes is a glance at that four-segment hour indicator, and the circular sweep indicators show you the minutes.

Even though the watch itself is a bit bulky, Tokyoflash prides itself on its thin band, calling it "barely thicker than a dime." It's available now in black or silver for around $80.

Another great gift for V-Day, these HTTPanties from Think Geek are perfect if either you or your lady is a nerd. You're reading this, so we're sure about at least one half of that equation.

These panties have cute HTTP status messages on them, sporting "411 Length Required", "413 REquested Entity Too Large", "403 Forbidden", and "200 OK". As long as your lover's wearing the right set, you can always gauge her interest by just peeking in her pants. You know, cause verbal communication is so 2006.

Despite being pretty certain that the Zune Phone was already in development, we haven't had many details about its featureset, timeline, or, well, anything else. Now we do.

The FCC Filing we saw yesterday from Microsoft looks to be actually for the Zune, allowing the music phone to use 4G WiMax to communicate. Not only communicate, but to use VoIP over the fast 4G network.

It gets better.

Sony's VAIO UX390 is one of the few UMPCs out there with a flash-based drive. It's got Windows Vista installed and of all the UMPCs around, it's the only one that can give OQO's Model 02 a run for it's money. The question is, does it? The folks at CNET gave it a test spin and deemed it the best UMPC they've seen to date. They loved the 32GB flash drive, the extended battery life, and the UX390's ports. So is the Model 02 DOA? Not so fast.

Ever wonder what it feels like to get an order of 500 MacBook Pros? Well, the lucky kids at Full Sail School in Florida will soon find out as that shipment you see arriving in the truck is their order. Assuming they all got the entry-level MBP, that's about $999,500 worth in MacBook Pros (let's hope they got the education discount). I've been wanting to upgrade to a MacBook Pro for awhile now and I can honestly say this video gives me the shakes.

If you're one of those do-gooders who follows your dentist's every whim, changing out your toothbrush every two months, then the TiFinity titanium toothbrush might be for you. Its inventor says it lasts ten times longer than ordinary toothbrushes, and keeps all those deadly bacteria at bay, too. But who wants to brush their teeth with metal bristles? Well, these titanium alloy bristles have supposedly "amazing properties."

These super elastic memory filaments of the bristle material constantly rebound instantly during brushing allowing for better penetration of the bristles in to the hard to reach areas between teeth and under gums!

Right when we first saw it, we assumed this must be some sort of status item. The big question is, how much does it cost?

Similar to the Freedom Mini Bluetooth keyboard, this Freedom Slim keyboard lets you add qwerty input to non-qwerty phones—the iPhone, perhaps?

The keyboard itself has Moto RAZR-ish design, including blue or orange backlight and magnetic pads to go with its included case. It's good for 4 hours of use and 100 hours standby and can be recharged via mini USB. May not be useful for most people, but great for those who do a lot of texting.

The numbers rise in coldness from 0 to 80, which gives you a good sense of exactly how much room you have to flop around with just a quick glance.
