Honest 836 Report post Posted March 21, 2007 Webaroo's 'Web to Go' for MobilesToday, Webaroo launched 'Web to Go', a new mobile software application, for fast, free, and always-on access to Web content on most current mobile phones across the globe. 'Web to Go' will allow consumers access wide ranging content, including news, blogs, photos, emails, etc, on their mobile phones, as also access this content even when they are not connected to the network. Besides, widgets in 'Web to Go' will help consumers download specific content from Web services, such as email servers, social networking sites, search engines, photo sites, weather sites, etc. The software requires a GPRS connection, and Edge- and Java- enabled phones. It will run on most popular models from Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, and so on. 'Web to Go' will use local phone memory to store snippets of content downloaded from the Web. The content will be stored locally and readily available, and according to Webaroo, accessible much faster than by traditional browsing. Besides, 'Web to Go' will offer users the option to view pages in either text or rich text form. Webaroo believes that with this application, customers can go beyond just 'offline search' and actually view content offline, eg: surfing social networking Web sites offline. Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Mathur, Co-founder & CEO, Webaroo, said, "Webaroo's vision is to make Web content available on all portable devices. We are excited to bring our vision to life now on most of the world's mobile phones, in addition to laptops and portable drives. This is a significant development as trends indicate that Web usage on mobile phones will grow to be more than on other devices". 'Web to Go' is downloadable free-of-charge from http://webaroo.com/m. Only data access fees are chargeable by the respective mobile carriers. The company said it is in discussions with mobile carriers and content publishers to integrate the software into their services.
