Replacing A Dead Handset

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys

My LG LSI -110 FWP handset is completely dead. I went to Reliance service center and they say it would cost Rs. 4500 to get it repaired. (whereas a new handset with a connection would come in less than half of that).

I went to web world to replace the handset with a new one , and they say they cannot replace the set as long as it is dead, and that i got to get it repaired first.

What the hell is this.

I can easily buy a new connection, but the retention of the number is of primary importance for me. I simply cannot let that number let expire like that as whole my business is dependant on it. I dont think it is wise to pay that amount of money to repair a old set.

Has anyone else ever faced such a situation. Is is really true I cannot change handset if it is not in working condition. Is the info provided in the web world misleading? What do i do?

Thanks

Deepak

Try you luck! Go to web world and tell you lost the handset then ask for replacement handset. You may get new one after paying some amount.

YES. i agree with abc2005.

It will cost you 50 - 100 Rs to get a LOST HANDSET FIR from police station. Thats still cheaper then 85 Rs Charges by LG service centre to give just an estimate.

Nothing can be done with the new RCL now. Pay up and enjoy their services.

Yes thats what I think I would have to do. But how torturous it is as if it is a fault of mine. I think our old BSNL connections are FAR more superior to RCL/TATA etc

Despair not. Go to a Reliance Webworld/Webworld Express. Buy a handset change card and follow this procedure: www.reliancecommunications.co.in/Communications/Rm/rm_hcc.html

If your phone is totally dead (this is, your phone doesn't switch on), explain your problem to the guys at Webworld. They have a way of registering a change of handset through their system. Take your dead handset to Webworld and show them what the problem is. Hope they will understand.

Once you switch to a new handset, your number and balance remain same as before.

as far as my knowledge goes, HCC can be used only with mobiles.. and by ur talks i can understand that u have a FWP...

so firswtly you have posted this in the wrong section.. mods please note!!..

and btw i had faced a similar situation 2 years back.. i had to give up the connection totally in that case.. n i had to get it repaired tomporarily at least for 900 bucks... only then did they even accept my surrender letter..

I dont think there is anything "superiour" about out old BSNL connections ...its just that the way of implementing and policies of our CDMA operators that suk big time!

Its high time we get FWPs also with something like a SIM/RUIM ...and then we can buy the instruments from wherever! Just the way we can buy wireline phones from anywhere and connect them to our BSNL lines. This would make FWPs way more attractive ...and more "reliable" as we dont have to depend on the operator when the phone conks out on us ...esp. in an emergency ...or when we are expecting important calls!
