Laptop Configuration For Office Purpose

let me know what is the best config for a laptop/ notebook according to you. the use is mailnly mailing..receiving abt 150 mails everyday.. replying them, wireless... need minimum ofinterfave to feed in the data thru ecternal sources or possibility of taking out the data. LAN compatibility is a must.

Go for Lenovo.......... its the best ........... things like Laptop u dont change that once in a while so

i think u should buy Lenovo ..... otherwise go for ACER it would cost around 28000/-

1. for my associates the budget shoule not exceed 25000/- with the taxes. (mandatory 512 ram)

2. for me, the budget would be around 50000/- with taxes or w/o taxes (mandatory 1+gb ram) basically a desktop replacement.

IMO IBM/LENOVO is undisputed leader.

Go for T30 series of IBM, damn stable and reliable.

There some HP product which is tablet edition with all the feature u can imagine and in ur budget also.

Visit Lokhandwala market at the end of market left side there's shop called laptop shop something, they give solid discounts and huge range of products they offer.

Dell would be able to give you Dual core, 1 gb computer with VISTA preloaded in 50k range. - but again i m not a FAN of Dell.

Chances of getting a toshiba around 55k . however not too sure. but its best company.

25k including 512 Ram is a bit difficult to get- try looking for AMD processor or VIA procesors. ACI would be able to give in that range- its better to check with people.

single visit to lamington road for couple of hours would be worthwhile for yr cause.

just today i happened to see HCL leaptop for Rs.23000/- approx + taxes, via processer and again hcl leaptop centrino duo for approx 43000/-

both these have 256mb ram and 40gb hdd.

while i am quite satisfied with the via processer, i guess ACI gives the same deal at around 20000/- + taxes.

for the premium laptop for myself i think DELL should do ad it is giving 1gb ram and 80 gb hdd, with some more enhancements at 54000/- discounted at 48000/- + taxes..

guys.. do you know anything about the reputation of Dell.

Toshiba with the same config will cost abt 60000/-+ the same abt lenovo..

what say guys...

Config would be same in all the companies... but brand value n quality is different.

Its like choosing between a Maruti, Hyundai & HONDA with similar specificaitons...

For Dell only one problem, later You have to get all components from dell only.

Other Manufacturer parts dosenot fits in Dells any system either desktop or laptop.

Go for the Config mainly... LAPTOPS is also becoming like Desktops.. where assembled works as good as branded because both are powered by same motherboard, processor n ram etc.

i am used to carrying my laptop with me everywhere..outstations too. and this way i have my database intact and can access my mail, which is like 100 mails every day..

that is why i am a bit sceptical,

It would do even if it is a bit heavy bt it should give me a headache for free..

and i think the specs Arun has given, with slight modification like 120 gb and without trulite etc, and with free upgrade to 1gb ram and dvd rw drive it will cost me 50,015+taxes inclusive of delievery.

but this will be for me.

for the ower end how will the via processer work,

or do i stick to ACER Celeron.

How abt AMD.

Just now i was speaking to some guy in the netwoking domain, he suggested me to go for AMD just because it is supposed to be cheaper.

Is it really in the ong run.

and then with my requirement like an Outlook which will see an incoming abt 100 mails a day, browising websited abt 3-4 windows will be open in the explorer excluding outlook..etc.

i dont want much of graphics only abt 40gb HDD even 20 will do and 512 RAM.

I think i will settle for dell, bt what abt the lower end. I am cnfused, i still have time till the month end thought to take the decision for this one..
