Creating Awareness

Recommended Posts

I have started this thread to mak u aware of one of the ways by which ur email id can b hacked…

I M NT POSTING THE WAY TO HACK OTHERS ACCOUNT…

I m jus telling u hw u can prevent ur account frm getin hackd…

There r many ways ur account can b hacked…

But the most prominent one being…

Fooling people to get their username and password...

So before logging into ur email account…

Check the url being displayed in ur address bar of ur browser window..

The original url (takin gmail as example) wud b lik…

https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogi...mp;ltmplcache=2

And the fake ones url wud be lik…

http://vsm.ifastnet.com/gmail/

Actually this technique works on creating fake pages of the original login pages…

the information u wil enter on the fake page can b accesed by me..so i cud gt ur id and passwd..

Therefore, Don’t do the stupidity of entering ur password and username in the fake page…

So always check the url of the login page...

Let me try making a fake login page for Rimweb(not for hacking purpose)...Wil gift it to Arun and other Mods.. :P

Speed difference will be noticed only when your system initially queries OpenDNS, when you request a new website... After that the DNS server has no role to play. If your ISP has a fast enuf DNS server, then OpenDNS may not help ...as a local server will have much lower latency (depends on ur ISP) than a remote server like OpenDNS.

Also, ensure that its really the OpenDNS server thats being used for querying ...and not your ISP's server. Just changing the DNS server did not work in my case... so confirm using the method described on OpenDNS's website.

yups... i have confirmed that i m using openDNS as well. Maybe its not speeding up... but its not slowing down as well. So as long as its safer... use it. It has warned me atleast 7-8 times abt dangerous /potentially dangerous sites.

ALso to check OPENDNS, best way to confirm is check log file of yr firewall, by logging every single connection made to & from yr pc.
