It also supports LISMO (au LISTEN MOBILE SERVICE). The handset features 1 gigabyte of dedicated music memory, allowing storage of approximately 630 songs. Take lots of music with you wherever you go. The Music Shuttle, which gives you total control of music playback operations, is built into the lower portion of the handset. Plus, each handset color comes with a matching remote control. Twist its grip around 360 degrees to make music and FM operation a breeze. Releasing the earphones is also easy with the sliding earphone cover. The Walkman® Phone includes the Shuttle Player, which displays visual images to match the style of song playing. Use it to check the playing status or song name, or even to download screen visuals. Plus, the Smart Bar provides a display of music information that is adjusted to the screen area even while you operate the phone, allowing you to instantly check song information. The 3D surround stereo speakers, which emit sound from four places on the back and sides of the handset, and the included earphones with great mid and high ranges allow sound reproduction with greater realism. Plus, with the equalizer function that lets you choose from five sound and bass settings and the AVLS setting that reduces sound leakage, you can enjoy the audio quality that suits your preferences. This 3G (CDMA2000) slider also features a 1.3 megapixel cam, a 2.2-inch, 240 x 320, 262k color LCD, FM radio, an EPG to keep you hip to the TV schedule, and a feast of dedicated player controls including a new mechanical wheel unique to Walkman phone navigation. And by partnering with KDDI, owners can snag music over-the-air via the 5 million downloads-per-month strong LISMO music service. Sadikk 301 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 (edited) Well these phones are not CDMA, its DOCOMO standard phones for KDDI. This is similar standard called DOCOMO developed and adopt by KDDI team. And its not W series, Most of the KDDI handsets start with W wether its by SE or MOTO or SANYO. KDDI never ever launched any handset which is launch any where else also. Big handset makers make special phones for KDDI which uses CDMA like tech called DOCOMO. (inventor of W-CDMA) all these handsets are atleast 2 year old, they are out dated now. MaHeN4eVeR 5 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 oNe MoRe.... !!!! Sony Ericsson creates a cell phone that looks good and is useful, but it does not look like a usual Sony Ericsson cell phone. The W43S looks more like a Samsung or a Nokia, incorporating a “Style-Up panel” that has 12 LEDs on the external to light and glow for incoming calls or messages and other functions. The Sony Ericsson W43S most vivid feature is its big cell phone internal screen, coming in at 2.7 inch (240 × 432) with 262K color TFT display. Using the CDMA 1X WIN technology, the W43S comes with a nice 2 MegaPixel camera that has a night mode, auto focus and digital zoom. To ensure a high quality picture, they have included a software called RealityMax. And to store the images, you can use the 42MB of internal memory or up to 4GB with the memory stick expansion, which is also good for the MP3 player. Before you buy the iPod, notice that the W43S can let you listen to music up to 24 hours. The W43S is available in as many as 16 shades with each offering different patterns with the style up panel. MaHeN4eVeR 5 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 SoNy eRicSSoN W44s Super Flip BraVia CDMA PhoNe Sony Ericsson have announced a new mobile phone with an exotic looking super-flip form factor. Instead of opening vertically, like a traditional clamshell, the new Sony Ericsson W44S Bravia phone flips open on it side, revealing a huge screen that's perfect for viewing movies and mobile TV on. Mobile TV? Yup, this Sony Ericsson's got the lot. The specs for the W44S are pretty impressive (which is what you'd expect for a Japanese phone): one-seg digital TV broadcast reception digital radio reception CDMA EVDO felica electronic money 3" (240Ă—432 16:9) wide screen with Bravia RealityMAXtechnology 3.2MP CMOS camera with AutoFocus dual 16mm diameter stereo speakers for 128voices polyphonic ringtone MS Pro Duo slot built in 115Mb flash Ironically, this has got me pretty annoyed! This is a superb mobile phone, and can clearly take on Nokia's latest N-Series multimedia computers, but Sony Ericsson have chosen to make it a Japanese-only model (destined for AU KDDI, if you're interested!). This means those of us outside of Japan have to put up with Sony Ericsson's less technologically-impressive mobile phones, which, although great mobile phones, don't come anywhere near what Nokia has planned with the Nokia N95. This presumably is part of Sony Ericsson's strategy - release stunning tour de force phones in its home Japanese market, while leaving other territories with good, but inferior, phones. This is a similar strategy that Samsung and LG follow, and it's fair enough to a degree, as the Japanese and Korean markets expect higher levels of technology than we do in the UK and elsewhere. But it's still annoying for those of us thirsting for a Sony Ericsson mobile TV phone that can take on Nokia at its game (and generally with better styling). However, this strategy leaves Nokia blazing the trail for top-end mobile phones, and risks demoting Sony Ericsson in the eyes of the consumer as a maker of good but not market-leading mobile phones. Although this strategy hasn't hurt Motorola yet (whose technology is seamingly years behind the others), Motorola struck lucky with the designer looks of the RAZR, and that's a fad that may be coming to an end (or at least being taken up by LG with the LG Chocolate and LG Shine ranges). Given that Sony Ericsson have traditionally been known for their high-end high-tech phones, this presumed change of focus may not be the best marketing strategy for the company. Which is just a long winded way of me saying "come on Sony Ericsson, we want more!"

KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 (edited) ^^^ Maybe by 2010 or 2011, we will get to feel the Reliance handsets, seeing can be done anytime. There is usually a very very longish time gap between seeing and feeling with RCL, as you all know already. Edited April 21, 2007 by khs123
mrasool 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 Let me get some facts clear. The SonyEricsson W42S is a CDMA2000 1x/EV-DO phone and is offered only by KDDI in Japan on their au service. (au is the brand name of their service just like Reliance Mobile & Tata Indicom in India) There are 3 main operators in Japan and the technologies they use are as under: KDDI au : CDMA2000 1x/EV-DO (All EV-DO handsets are fully backward compatible with CDMA2000 1x and CDMAone handets) NTT DoCoMo : WCDMA(FOMA) which is basically a modified version of WCDMA and most of their handsets are incompatible with the widely used WCDMA(UMTS) standard. SoftBank Mobile (earlier Vodafone Japan) : WCDMA(UMTS) (It means that the handset supports GSM/EDGE and WCDMA) So the above mentioned handset can be used in India on Reliance Mobile and Tata Indicom provided it supports the 800 MHz band that we use here. KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted August 20, 2009 AFAIK, in Japan it is not Sony-Ericsson but only Sony. A friend of mine who shifted from Japan recently has brought along with him a couple of such phones but they are only paper weights here. They operate on 3G only and are not compliant with 2G networks. They are far, far advanced than what we see here.
