bobk 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Hi Shuvabrata, That's strange. Your Card should have been activated within few hrs (3-4 hrs). As for me...i purchased it in evening around 6.00pm, and it was activated well within few hrs ( as the Web world guy told me ). By 9.00 pm i was browsing Net. I suspect that your New Connection application hasn't been loaded into by the Web world into the System. or may be its being loaded but might be in Queue. I remember, while was purchasing my Card...a guy came in there and was complaining the Staff for not activating his connection for last 10 days. I talked with that guy, and he told me that he was promised on activation done in few hrs. He kept on complaining over the phone, and with no success... he had to visit the Web world personally. Finally, the Staff told that they will asap! process their connection application.... as they haven't loaded his connection request due to workload. So, i suggest you to go again to the same web world,...and see if they have loaded your application into their system or not. I had my connection application loaded into their system before my eyes..only after that i left the web world, as i wanted urgent connection. May be this could help you....let us know. ps : In other forum post ..we discussed abt PCMCIA card & USB modem. Can you tell me..why you went for ZTE-PCMCIA card. Just curious to know Thanks, Bob
supernova 47 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 NO outgoing calls ... Not even *333 or *363 ... Other connection settings are fine .... see if you are not able to do outgoing calls that means your *228 has not been done . call on *228 again . listen what they say and post here . also after doing that quit application for 30 min . after that insert card and try calling local number . are you able to do outgoing local call or sms ? these things will rule out one thing . your card activated or not ? rest is simple setting same as per my previous post

bobk 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 @bobk Wht r the advantages of USB modem over PCMCIA card or vice versa? Any idea which one is better... ? Hi Hitman, As such there is no difference between the two. Only advantage USB-modem has is that, it can used both on ur PC as well as Laptop. On the other hand PCMCIA can be used only on ur laptop. Let me know if you need any more info.. thanks, Bob

Just curious to know Thanks, Bob My connection started the next day. As per Reliance there was some server problems at their end. I went for PCMCIA, cause i was not too happy with USB as it involves a cable and i had pretty bad experiences with my cable. And my laptop has PCMCIA and the card is bought looking at a lifetime of 2-3 years ... Hence i went for it. thanks Shuvabrata
bobk 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2007 Hi Shuvabrata, Good to hear ur connection is now ON. PCMCIA is also a good choice. Just for ur information, the USB-Modem comes with 2 things inside the package : 1) Cable 2) USB connector You're right ..its a mess using the Cable. I am using USB connector...which fits in just like a PCMCIA card. Please do post ur feedback on the Browsing speed. Thanks, Bob

Thanks, Bob Didn't know about the USB Connector part, that might have changed my decision. Browsing speed is pathetic from 10-15 to 11-45 PM ... as i am using Freedom @ Night. I am getting between 8 kBps and 20 kBps. And the speed feels much slower than using my LG RD5130 .... Any advice? regards, Shuvabrata
