Recommended Posts

Hi friends,

I am not a RConnect user but I want to use the services.

I want some feedback from all you guys because this is the best place to get one from.

I want to use RCOnnect services and I dont own a reilance mobile phone.

1. Do I have to get a reliance phone to use the rconnect with my laptop

2. whats the speed you guys are getting.

3. how did you rate the service response in case you have any technical problem regarding accessing the rconnect.

4. how much you are paying and which is best plan. I want to use unlimited one.

Currently I am using sify 256 kbps unlimited plan, do you guys recommend to shift to rconnect.

thanks,

Munish

1) Yes, if you want to opt for the data plan (i.e., with data limit per month), you need to get a Data Card connection. With a phone connection you can get the time based plan only. You need not pay any rent for the voice (phone) plan by opting for the default voice plan (Joy 149) as it is included with the data plan (freedom, freedom plus, platinum), so you can make calls/sms (free 100 sms is there) also if you wish.

2) I use the Huawei Data Card (~Rs.4000) and I get around 115 - 125 kbps average speed. It may vary depending upon the network congestion in different places. I've noticed that data cards get more speed than mobile phone.

3) Other than first time installation issues, you won't run into much technical issues. If it is a connectivity issue, that will be something to do with the network, so you have to wait until they rectify that.

4) Unlimited data transfer is in the Platinum plan at Rs.1500/month, so make sure you get a data card.

No, NetConnect is recommended only if you are going to use internet on your laptop (i.e., if you move/travel) or if Broadband is not available in your area. At Rs.1000 per month, you should be able to get a 256 kbps broadband connection with unlimited data transfer.

Thanks Arun for the prompt reply.

One think is still not clear, Do I need to purchase a Data card if I want to use the internet with my laptop.

Or I have to purchase a mobile also along with Data Card for Internet access on my laptop.

Broadband I dont want to use. Only Wi-FI.

Thanks,

Munish

There is no possible reason to purchase both ...choose between a data card or a mobile phone. As Arun mentioned, data cards usually give better speeds than mobiles.

And I dont think anybody here would recommend Netconnect over a normal broadband connection, unless you absolutely need the mobility afforded by a data card/mobile.

You get 2 type of DATA card, one is PCMCI and other is normal USB.

For using it on laptop PCMCI is suggested, and USB data card for desktop.

Please first confirm type of PCMCI slot in ur laptop, as after u bought it u wont be able to exchange it.

buy it from AMIT ( SUPERNOVA) our forum member and friend, he will give you good discounts.
