raccoon 53 Report post Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) As of now, in my opinion, Tata is the way to go. They have much better tariffs ...and users say the network is getting better (wouldnt know how the network is in Delhi, though). Tata also has a scheme where if you buy 2 fones, calls between the two are free (with some limit). I dont recall the details... you can check it up. Not sure if its available in Delhi though. Voice clarity is good ...as it is with CDMA phones (depends on which handset you use too) ...but its the texting part where they let you down big time. Not sure about Tata, as I'v never used it ...but RIM I would never recommend to anyone to who texting is important. Edited June 3, 2007 by raccoon
anuragz 4 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 Dear friends, right now i am residing in delhi I want to purchase two sets of tata indicom.my expected usage is 3 to 4 hrs per day between these two nos. I want to know that how stable tata network is i mean voice clarity. also howz the performance of tata indicom samsung hero nxt and Huewai( FM phone). I can also go for RIM so suggets me what should i opt. manish, well i m too in delhi & fortunately i have both Samsung Heronxt & Huwai Rythem(fm phone). Earlier i had two reliance connection which i got disconnected due to improper plans & bills. I am quite satisfied with Tata's network/bills/service. Read This As far as handsets are concerned both the handsets u mentioned are fine for Talk & Text. Display is good also good battery life. Heronxt is a good handset for a price tag of Rs 1000/-. But i must tell u this that i m not very satisfied with the speaker of these cheap phones. The speaker sound bursts at high volume. So i use a good handsfree with them & handsfree sound is perfectly clear. Read this Huwai is also good but i found some trouble when using it with a handsfree. Some vibration sound is heard by the other person if huwai user is using it with a handsfree. I'd rather recommend that u go for Motorola W170 fm phone(2300/-) which is slightly expensive than Huwai (1900/-) but a beter performer. u can pm me if u want me to suggest u a good plan & tell u who's giving best deals. raccoon 53 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 Anuragz, I know we are in different circles, but do you have any suggestions/ideas about Tata landline/walky? Am seriously thinking of buying one as they are giving Rs. 1.2 / 1 per 3 min tariffs! And further 30% reduction with night add-on pack. Since most of my calls are to intra-circle GSM mobiles, it should result in a significant saving for me.
KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 You get the same tariffs even on RCL, raccoon. See the FW299Mobile plan, Plan 299OI, Hello 125 plan etc. But I will agree with anuragz, that TATA Walky has got exceptional plans and offers also. Their Cordless Colour Walky has got even better offers though the upfront cost is a bit high at around 4k.
raccoon 53 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 (edited) I just saw the RCL tariffs ...and I dont see them anywhere close to the tata plans??? In fact they are quoting Rs. 1.2 per 45 seconds etc ....preposterous! I can call (m-m) from my cell or BSNL landline at Re. 1 per min. I'll go for a new landline/walky option ONLY if its cheaper than that! Whats more Tata has lifetime incoming offers with Re. 1 per 3 min tariff, etc. So no rentals at all! Damn cool!! And I dont need colour walky and all ...hell I dont even need CLIP ...if it costs extra. Edited June 4, 2007 by raccoon
KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 (edited) ^^^ You have not seen the special plans page under FWP, I suppose on RCL's website. You have only seen the Standard Plans page. RCL is offering some very good offers on FWPs. You can also check out the Prepaid FWPs. You have got mighty disillusioned with RCL now and hence I would strongly suggest you to go ahead with Tata and enjoy...... In any case, RCL cannot beat TATA on tariffs on FWPs at all. So go ahead, find out how TATA's network is in your circle and enjoy....... Edited June 4, 2007 by khs123
raccoon 53 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 Oh ok. Guess i missed that page ...thanks for pointing it out. But for obvious reasons the Tata plans still seem much better ...esp. since there will be no rental ...and the night time addon pack!

raccoon 53 Report post Posted June 4, 2007 Hey ....thanks, I did see that plan, but I guess thats bundled with a mobile... But the tariffs are great. Tata is doing its best to confound me with all its plans and contradictory info given by CC, salespeople and their hubs, etc, etc. Every single person seems to have a different info ....lol! As for mobile tariffs coming to par ...I guess corporate plans do come pretty close to this...
