Setting R-connect -high Speed Data**

Recommended Posts

Setting up R-Connect service for a high speed data connection, with unbelievable connection speed at 230kbps.

Step 1

1.Dial *412 from your phone

2.Data Cable DKU-5

3.DKU-5 drivers

4.Modem Drivers

5.PC Suite 4.97 (Optional)

Step 2

Install the DKU-5 drivers (Win XP users restart even if not prompted) connect the cable the windows will install the drivers. Windows will use & recognize the cable as serial port & not as USB so please check the port no. ie If you already have 3COM port the 4th COM port will be this cable, so don't remember to note down the port no.

Step 3

Installing Modem. Go to the control panel then to Phone & Modem Option >Modems> Add check "I will select the modem from the list" & proceed in the next page select Have disk the browse to the Modem Driver file that you have downloaded. While installation I will ask for which service select "Nokia CDMA 1XRTT 3G Packet Data Modem" next it will ask for the port so select the right COM port (see step1 for help) & continue. Restart is recommended to clear all hardware conflicts.

Step4

After a restart & the cable connected open device management. Expand "PORT" select your cable port & open the Properties>Port Settings> Bits per Second set it to maximum. If you have USB 2.0 then you will have more than 128000 speed. I got just 128000 speed since its not USB 2.0.

Now also open the Modem properties from the device management & ensure its port speed to be 230400. This speed will result in 230Kbps connection speed when you connect, reducing the port speed also reduces the connection speed.

Also note that connection speed is only the maximum allowable speed rest depends on handset, as for Nokia 2280 its speed is 152Kbps. So actually while working it will download at rate of maximum 152Kbps only. Good thing is that other reliance handsets connection speed itself is 115Kbps so they can't think of 152Kbps.

Step5

Create a new dial up connection & select Nokia CDMA 1XRTT 3G Packet Data Modem as your modem, put #777 as your dial up number, put your phone no with STD code as your username & password.

Get ready to connect now!! connect your phone & note no other program is using the phone or port. From the dial up connection menu click on dial & get connected to a high speed internet service.

Known Problems

This happens with me most of the time, when I connect & try open some site the phone displays a message "Enhancement Not Supported" this started after 2 days of usage. Only a try of 15 ONE suceeds. I have still not fig out the problem but hope I will soon. But I guess its some conflicts with the port speed is the core probs. If you some how NOTICE & CONTACT

The above procedure is based on trail-error & little research so it may not be so perfect. Please tell me if you face a new probs.

the error, i guess, is mostly due to tampering of default settings. they are very categoric to the reliance network.

one trial in 15 succeeds shows that this is the case. change the settings back and the connection will continue.

btw are you sure the data speed shpown is the actual data transfer speed and authenticated by using some tool, and is not the port speed.

(for me the speed is 460 kbps)-> and when i conect to wireless the connection is connected at 50mbps on a 256kbps line.
