Incognito 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 Just got a handset from Sadik...mine doesn't works for more than 6 hours even with turn off backlight timer on internal power is set to 30 seconds > Its a new no. and hence no talktime yet...just using it for accessing mails and our crm application for round 30 minutes during the entire charged duration...I bought extra battery from Sadik and even the other one's uptime is not impressive. Mine Nokia E61 gives me two days of uptime with my gprs + talktime . Are the batteries of my handset faulty or its same with everyone ?
Dj 25 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 two things... wifi drains battery big time... secondly ur network coverage... apart from these if ur backlight on battery is at low brightness and shuts off 30 sec mein then it should last a day and more... calling doesnt take too much battery... tip... when on call power off the phone with the power button while in call... and no dont even think abt comparing a gsm phone to a cdma one as far as battery goes... HetalDP 947 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I use 1500 mAh Li-Polymer Plastic Battery it lighter by 6 Grams then Normal and give me 20 % Straight gain, mine last for 36 Hours with 30 calls a Day (No Wifi, no Music )
Incognito 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I was able to squeeze full day with my battery once I turned off the WIFI, will try keeping wifi on for tom and check the uptime.
petar 15 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I have shifted to 1500 mAh Li-Polymer battery as well. Cannot comment on standby time... because my usage doent allow me that much standby... lasts just abt 2.5- 3 hrs talktime thru out the day (14-15 hrs maybe) or continuous VOIP calling thru wifi for around 100 mins. KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted July 4, 2007 If one uses any mobile for big time SMS'ing, the battery will drain off very fast. I have noticed this over the last 5 to 6 years in both GSM and CDMA. AFAIK, when you SMS, the backlight remains on for the time you type the SMS or fwd it and goes off after the SMS has been sent (typically 15 secs in any Nokia or 10 secs in LG). Multiply by the number of SMSs you send and see the number of seconds your backlight remains on. Even when you receive SMSs, your backlight remains on for 15/10 secs plus the alert if any that has been set. In short, do as RCL tells you to do, "dont use the mobile for SMS'ing" It is costly by way of SMS costs and also battery life. So dont SMS too much. Techies here may please elaborate on the above. Typically I used to send 40 to 45 SMS every day to around 45 people across 10 - 12 SMS groups. And by 2PM everyday, my 6265's battery used to drain off completely. I stopped SMS'ing so much and now the battery lasts till atleast 10PM. Now I hardly SMS, maybe once or twice a week, My SMS count has come down from 18000+ SMS/month 2 months back to just 1500- SMS/month now. Off Topic By the way, how does 6700 fare for SMS? Is the UI easy like Nokia/LG and to how many recipients can one send a SMS in a single shot. In Nokia/LG, you can send only to 10 people at a time. In series 60 Nokia phones, one can send SMS to unltd number of recipients. Since 6700 is a PDA, can this functionality be achieved here also? Thanks

In series 60 Nokia phones, one can send SMS to unltd number of recipients. Since 6700 is a PDA, can this functionality be achieved here also? There are softwares which can send SMS to huge groups. Ofcourse as you said, it takes same time as any other handset. May be with phone connection ON it may take less time. I will rate 6700 better than any other phone. Except for its physical size. Good battery life, very convinient, e mail and browsing on GO, for music lovers its music player and above all SADIK sells it at very good price. I bought it for 15K, I dont know now if he has reduced. Let me know if he reduced price so that I can ask refund. Thanks BTW my battery last for about 150-170 mins of talk time (Recharge every night). If I drain it till 10%. With less talk time about 40 hours of standby and 100 mins talk time. petar 15 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 @kShah- wonderful talktime with standby. U might not be using Hetals Loaded ROM. The talktime depends upon the ROM & what apps are running.
kshah 452 Report post Posted July 6, 2007 It is more related to battery than ROM. My obeservation is that RAdio consumnes far more power than any thing else. Second best power consumenr is LCD backlight and then LCD itself. I hace kept settings Shut off device after 1 min. Backlit after 10 sec and has practice to switch off backlit immediately. In general this is first PDA I am happy with battery life. My 6600 was used to give me 90-100 mins of talk time and 24 hours standby. Also I dont use PDA for movies and music. Incognito 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Finally with all suggestions of turning off the back light, wifi off when not in use, bluetooth off and Hetal's latest ROM I'm able to stretch the standby upto 36 hours on my 6700. No regrets since I have an extra battery and with all the backups I can run the gear for 3 days without a need to charge
petar 15 Report post Posted July 11, 2007 SIMPLY IF you dont have any calls or other uses... then standby can go for more then 48 hrs.... But then... which idiot who doent use the phone for 48 hrs at a strech will want to BUY It ???? Stop thinking abt battery time on idle phones dude.... i m sure prime reason we all bought the phone was to USE IT. SO when u use it that much... it consumes more battery...! ENJOY PHONE ENJOY LIFE.
