How To Switch Off Backlight While Listening To Songs?

Recommended Posts

I hope this is not a stupid question but I am not getting the solution after having (i) read the user manual (ii) searched through the posts here.

My problem is that while listening to songs on my 6265, the display light remains full on. it does not even dim, far from going to sleep. i am not touching any of the buttons while listening. the net effect is that by about 60 minutes, the battery is almost 20% from about 90%.

My display settings are that I have kept backlight to go off in 10 second and I have also kept the sleep mode to be on. This works when my mobile is on standby but while listening to music, the backlight remains on and I think that is the chief cause of my battery draining.

Where am I doing something wrong? Any ideas?! Thanks in advance.

I may also add that the problem also exists if i listen via blue tooth headset. But there is no such problem if I listen to the radio!

I am using my music player and the backlight goes off in 10 secs as I have set it just like you have done.

I suggest you go over to the Nokia ASC and get your mobile checked up.

i hope you listen to songs from music player application

media -->music player :SI:

and not from media player application

media-->media player :NOTriste:

or from directly accessing the song from galary.

either way, the backlight on my 6265 goes off within 15 secs as it has been set to that time. SO how is it different, anuragz?

actually 'Media player' is meant to play all type of media that a handset supports i.e. video formats like mpg, avi, 3gp & audio formats like wav, aac, mp3,amr etc.

U must have noticed that while playing videos the backlight never turns off. It is designed that way.

'Media player' is basically designed to play videos but when u play audio files in media player it treats them also as video format & thus keeps the backlight on while that track is playing.

Now when u play audios on media player or even when u browse mp3 through galary & select to play, the track is played in 'media player' by default. & the backlight remains turned on.

That's why mp3 should always be played through 'Music Player' application in the phone.

Jayant also quoted that problem appears only when playing mp3 but not while listening to radio.

its only b'coz u cannot play radio in media player & radio has a seperate application to play.

I m sure Jayant must be playing mp3 in 'media player' & not in 'Music player'

Very Very interesting finds there, anuragz.

I never noticed it till you brought it into attention.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

You were right Anuragz, i was making the mistake of going to the list of song through the Gallery just like windows explorer and clicking on the song i wanted! I used the music player and the backlight went off at my programmed period.

Your logic was also impeccable that media player may play videos for which the back light should not switch off. Incidentally, this, as afar as i searched the user manual, is not there in manual.

Sorry for late reply. I read your reply and wanted to test before reply but 2 days passed before i could access net.

Thanks a lot, Anuragz!

but while on this, then, the fact that KumaarShah can program his 6265 to have backlight off remains unexplained. Of course my problem is solved - thanks again - but only wondering academically.

Sorry but I think I checked only the music player option and not the media player option as I was not aware that they are separate. I did not understand the difference between media player and music player and to me both seemed same, so I reported that the backlight switched off in 15 secs.

Anyway, kudos to anuragz for pointing it out in a detailed way.

@Jayant @ Kumaar Shah

you r welcome my friends. Although as compared to other members i'v got very little knowledge about mobiles, but whatever i know i'll surely share it with friends.

But u know what really surprises me is that almost 90% of Nokia mobile users face the same problem what Jayant has faced. even i have corrected hundreds of other users too.

Well now i'v started feeling that its not just being unaware by the user but its more like a bug in Nokia Phones.

I'v never used 6265 or 6275 but i have a Nokia 6230 (gsm) but as all nokias have same interface i knew what was the error.

Regards :(
