Ayush 1 Report post Posted August 6, 2007 Hello Everyone Recently i've realized the need for charging my CDMA phones in car. I did a lot of research and was unable to find car charger for FWP and FWT phones. I think no such charger is available in market. Maybe a normal charger can be modified and used with these phones, but i am not sure about it. I about appreciate if anyone is using one such car charger for FWP or FWT phones, revert back to me with details. Also if custom made, how can it be done? Thanks Ayush

Ayush 1 Report post Posted August 6, 2007 My requirement is a bit unusual but still i don't think Rs 5,000 is something worth it. Moreover being a pro i'll be damned if anyone buys a damned car charger for five grands lol. People post some useful ideas... Ayush 1 Report post Posted August 6, 2007 Thnx for the information mate. Here are a few links which i got about car inverters available in india.. http://www.axiomenergy.co.in/mcartfree/modprod.asp http://www.almajeed.co.in/ http://cgi.ebay.in/Portable-75-watt-Car-po...6QQcmdZViewItem Its all from axiom. I think 75watt is enough for day to day requirements. The pricing is from Rs 1,190. But i am sure this device must be available in grey market for less than Rs 600. regards Ayush
kshah 452 Report post Posted August 7, 2007 (edited) I dont kn ow why you do research on car invertor, you require simple car charger. If you really want good charger then do following 1. Buy Nokia car charger ORIGINAL May cost you 400-500 bucks 2. Go to elecronic spare shop, buy female connector for nokia charger plug (Which goes in phone) 3 Also buy male connector for your FWP / FWT what ever. 4. Go home 5. Assuming that you have soldering iron and you know solder. 6. See FWP where plug goes in, you will see where is +ve and -VE 7. Based on which solder wires between socket and plug. 8. Put socket on car charger and plug in phone and you go. Invertors are different technology. Else there is a very good car charger available with many plugs, selectable voltage and polarity. It is Indian make (Some good company) but forgot name. Edited August 7, 2007 by kshah
Ayush 1 Report post Posted August 9, 2007 Thanks for that reply brother. The Idea was the one which strike me the moment i joined the hunt. What you forgot about is something called voltage and current. Nokia uses 5.7V at 0.8Amp where as FWP requires 12V at 0.5Amp. Now thats a big difference.. I don't think plugging a parallel wire is the best idea, but yeah if one car charger with 12V out at 0.5 to 0.8 Amp may work. Thats quite hard to find coz i already tried. Anyways, till now the inverter is the best solution which i locked on but its for more expensive as compared to charger. But maybe its worth.. regards Ayush
sgiitk 32 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 12VDC 0.5A from a car should be a cinch. Please check what you get from the wall charger. As far as I know these are nothing more than a transformer + rectifier + filter. I would suspect that you are should be getting something like 16-18V (12 x root 2). Teh phone should then be happy with a nominal 12V supply. If this is the case then you need nothing more than a wire (with a filter) to plug into the car power (say a cigarette lighter) and with a suitable jack for the phone. You find that the car voltage will be in the 13.5 to 14.5V region. If it is 12VAC then it is a different story.
